Virgil's Special Edition Root Beer

Ran across this at the Whole Foods Market in Jenkintown, PA. Having already tried their regular brand of Microbrewed Root Beer, I was surprised to find neat looking bottle of brew by Virgil. "Special Edition Bavarian Nutmeg" adorns the top of the label. Well, I don't really see how nutmeg would enhance the flavor of root beer, being from Bavaria or whereever, but the bottle is worth getting to hold onto at the very least.

As for taste, it's definitely different from their regular brew. Don't particularly taste any nutmeg, but more importantly, the licorice flavor that was so prevalent in their regular root beer isn't there either. Instead, it's very earthy, herbal and smooth. Sweet, but not too sweet with nice bite. It's very good, but at $5 for 24 ozs you won't see me getting this all that often! Still, if you can find it, it is well worth getting. And I plan on reusing this bottle!

Sweetened With: "Unbleached Cane Sugar, Molasses"

Verdict: Worth a bottle or two

natural, virgil's, sugar sweetened, root beer
