Hank's Birch Beer

Hank's Birch Beer

I've known of Hank's line of "Gourmet" sodas for some time now, especially since they're pretty much a local label. Though, it's taken me some time to finally come across what seems to be their most elusive flavor, Birch Beer. Finally, the Dairy Queen near me decided to stop carrying Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer (reviewed here) and just get Hank's Birch along with the Root.

As far as taste goes, it's really darn good! Has really nice bite to it, strong birch flavor and just the right sweetness. It's a red birch beer (can't really tell at first because the bottle is brown), so that explains the slight vanilla flavoring. Does have a little bit of a root beer flavor; probably due to the yucca extracts listed in the ingredients. All in all, though it now mystifies me as to why more venues don't carry this flavor! It ranks right up there with some of the best birch beers!

Sweetened With: "Cane Sugar"

Verdict: Worth a case or two

birch beer, hank's, sugar sweetened
