nothing like 90 minutes of exploring to liven up a 30 minute walk home

my goal was to avoid walking on either miramonte or grant, which would be the boring routes home. miramonte i chanced upon because i'd lost my sense of direction after exiting the hospital, and when i finally reached grant i decided it was ok to follow it since it would no longer be boring and i was tired (hey, it was hot.)

the second highest point of this journey was in the middle of cuesta park when i happened upon three guys sitting in the shade of a tree on top of a hill, one chatting and two playing guitar; i sat down facing outwards to watch the kids go by on their 16" bicycles while i listened.

the highest point was when i chanced to walk barefoot on a little waterfall-like construct in the middle of the turnabout in front of el camino hospital (i couldn't find a better picture than this) and discovered a hidden treasure. there is a sort of circular wall that goes around the middle of the middle of the turnaround, sloping slightly downwards (going counterclockwise) and ending about a foot high just a few feet off from where it started as seven feet high. around the outside of about a third of it, there's a sort of tiny brick staircase with water running down it. when i went to walk on the little stairs, though, i noticed that the wall itself had a trough along its top with lots of water running through it, like a super-long mini water slide. then of course i climbed up on it and walked down its length. so if i ever find myself coming home from work super-stressed, i will probably go climb up to it and perch on its top with my feet in the water.
