This is just a short post to say I love my housemates, my family, and other peoples.
Yesterday was a long, emotionally taxing, happy but exhausting day, but everybody was awesome.
The lovely Program Director and her longtime partner were married on Saturday, the second marriage for both and the creating of a beautiful blended family between her daughter, his son, and hte two of them. The littlest Quester gave me a ride out and back, and it was much appreciated, and all was well. I love the Questers.
Then the Knight agreed to come and help serve at the reception with me, which turned out to be an elaborate, exhausting, overwhelming ordeal that he endured with perfect good humor and efficiency. I love the Knight.
I got home very late and tired to discover that my phone had fallen out of my pocket into the very busy street in front of our house, and had suffered the sort of fate one would expect to befall a small cell phone on a busy street. Because I was tired and overwhelmed, I overreacted to this quite ridiculously. The Grand Vizier rose to the occasion -- and when the Grand Vizier rises, he towers quite a bit -- and immediately offered his phone to call my parents and do whatever else I needed to do about getting a new phone, AND loaned me his car so that I could several precious additional quarter-hours' sleep this morning before heading off to a Quaker meeting where I hav ea newfound Sunday morning job, caring for kids. I love the Vizier.
Meanwhile, the Loremaster came in to calm me down and listened to me vent for a little while and then distracted me with all of the brilliant academic insights involving Tam Lin that she'd had while babysitting. I love the Loremaster.
This morning, the Queen got up just as I did, and greeted me as I emerged, bleary-eyed and rather stressed, from my bedroom with the sprightly words, "Would you like pancakes, or eggs?" I love the Queen.
I also love the Jester, who would undoubtedly have been very supportive and friendly had he not been, at the time, driving back from a week-long gaming business conference in San Francisco. (He had a NETWORKING BAR. Why is it that none of the professions I have ever considered have anything that sounds nearly so much fun as a networking bar? Teachers don't get together to get sloshed while discussing the best way to teach Moby Dick to 10th graders! Which is probably a big part of the reason there's a dirth of good lesson plans!) But anyway, he's back now, so yay for our house being complete again.
I also love the parents. I'm on the cell phone family plan, so all of the rigmarole about getting a temporary new phone and having a replacement phone sent by the warranty people and everything else needed to be done by THEM. Which is another reason I hate Verizon, but that's a post for another day. So yay for awesome parents, and yay for them coming to visit tomorrow!!
And I love all the beautiful peples who responded immediately to my emailed request for phone numbers with not only the phone numbers but happy messages of love and peace. ("LOVE AND PEACE! LOVE AND PEACE!"...ahem. Sorry. The boys made me watch Trigun.) I have awesome friends.
Okay, I'm done my gushing. I DO have a temporary phone again, at the same number as before, but I'll have a real phone on Tuesday or, if the Verizon people are the low-down dirty liars I suspect them to be, sometime late next week.
Now I'm going to go clean the kitchen, and then bake the housies something affectionate.
hedgehog home,
friends,
update of doom,
cool people
