Johan wandered casually around, meeting people now and then, but it was always most comforting to him to speak to the only other person there...or people now, really, though they were one and the same...who came from his world.

"Hey!" he waved to Juudai and Yubel both as he came up, glad to see that they were both out and about for the moment.

Juudai's eyes softened a bit. Yubel took him into her arms just the slightest bit further, protectively... or perhaps more comfortingly. He managed a crooked smile eventually.

"You always seem to run into us at times like these," he said, not sounding too bitter about it despite the ambiguous choice of wording.

"Just lucky?" Johan asked, grinning a little as he made himself comfortable against a conveniently nearby tree. "How have you two been lately?"

"I guess. We're... okay." Juudai shifted, sitting with his back to Yubel to face Johan better, but not bothering to remove himself from her completely; it was too comfortable there. "Just kind of getting along, I think."

Johan nodded some; he really wouldn't have expected Juudai to get up. Yubel was probably the most comfortable seat he'd ever had. "Yeah. Every time you think this place has thrown enough at you, something new comes up." He still hadn't tried touching one of those rainbows. He wanted to, but it just hadn't happened yet.

"It's been kind of quiet lately, though... nothing new has come up, as far as I know. But maybe I'm speaking too soon." His small smile twitched a bit, but didn't quite fade just yet. "It's kind of peaceful for now, though."

"Yeah. I keep meaning to check on those rainbows and see what they can do." There was a slight grin on his lips now. "Call it professional curiousity?" After all, while he was the Herald of Darkness, his deck did feature rainbows quite prominently.

"Mmm... they seem kind of strange." Juudai's expression wilted a little at that, and his eyes eventually wandered away. "I don't... like them."

Johan frowned a bit; did Juudai know something he didn't about them? Rainbows did relate to light, after all. "Any idea of why?"

"It's..." he tried, knitting his brow, "well, I don't know. They make me kinda uneasy." It was a lie and a ruse and Juudai knew it, and while he figured he probably set himself up for it by admitting he didn't like them, he didn't feel like going into the real reason why not.

Johan tilted his head some; he knew Juudai well enough to suspect that there was something he wasn't saying. He wasn't sure if he wanted to pry about it, though.

"If I find out anything, I'll let you know," he promised, making a note to find one soon and see what happened.

"Thanks. More than that, though, it just..." He sighed, leaning back again into Yubel's embrace, and decided to just spit it out. "It reminds me of things I don't want to think about anymore."

Oh. Well, that sort of explained it. "I guess it would at that." He sighed; he would always carry some guilt from that. There'd always be enough to go around...and part would always be his.

Juudai was thoughtfully quiet for a long while after that, until Hane Kuriboh broke the uneasy silence with a soft trill. It began pawing at Johan's deck, eager to play after a few weeks of separation, and Juudai smiled faintly.

"You always want to play," Juudai chastised the furball with no real heat. "Lately he's been trying to play with the animals we run into... like those bat things, and the cats that wander around. I think he's kinda disappointed that he goes right through them instead, heh."

Johan chuckled some as Ruby Carbuncle appeared, trilling adorably as she did. No matter the issues between him and Juudai, those two had always gotten along very well.

"Ruby's been trying to play with them too. I wonder if they make Duel Spirit toys...ones the spirits can play with." Maybe if he ever got home, he could suggest it to someone.

Juudai smiled, watching Hane Kuriboh paw half-aggressively, half-curiously at Ruby, as though to tentatively initiate the wrestling match.

"Hey..." he murmured after a while of observing the two spirits' play time. "I never did get around to asking about... that time. When you had Kaiser's deck merged with yours... what's the story behind that, if you don't mind me asking...?"
