Super had been worried when Ryoji had vanished. He had been one of the reasons Super had eventually asked for help getting back to the residential area...and now he'd gone into hiding himself.

Super might have been annoyed it it wasn't for the creeping feeling of something's wrong that was in the air.

And then the dark Hour came. Super closed his eyes for second waiting for to see if the rage, the insane desire to destroy everything would wash over him, be breathed a sigh of almost relief when felt nothing other than the dread he had already been feeling.

Until an unknown sound drew his attention to the moon. He stared feet rooted to the spot as it descended and spoke. Of course Super remembered that Ryoji wasn't quite human, but he had no idea that what he currently looking at was what Ryoji had become.

And as it started to just hovered above the lake, waiting, Super walked a little closer, keeping an eye on the edge this time. He wasn't about to get knocked in again if he could help it.

"W...what are you?"

To say 'it' was amused at this point would be an understatement. That the living did not know what he was was a very grievous error, one in need of correction. He would have to rectify this mistake. When it (... or is it he? It's a bit impossible to tell from just... looking at it) looked down to see the odd little Hedgehog, without memory, its hollow eyes seemed to peer through his soul.

"I am that which all living things fear from the moment they are born... surely you can feel it...?"

There was a faint hint, of course, of a recognization in his voice. If one was observant, the hair might give it away... otherwise? His voice sounded as though it'd been run through a washing machine and echoed a few times.

"So you're behind..." Super paused narrowing his eyes. "Are you behind the rage too?!"

Super looked, really looked at this, thing. No doubt it was a threat, and it spoke as if he was expected to know what it was, but he didn't remember seeing the hour the insanity started, he was sure he had never seen it at any other time either...

And yet...

"Have we met before?"

As much as it knew on the matters of life, death, and the world in general, it wasn't aware of OTHER worlds... though that was selling the fact a bit short: it was neigh on impossible to kill and pretty much knew everything in this form due to its connection to Nyx. What it did, however, know, was that there wasn't any way this could be affecting him (... only it was, unfortunately), and that 'he' hadn't caused it. The other issue, of course, being it could automatically pretty much sense or know what a living thing was made out of.

"The anger the living creatures here are feeling is nothing of my creation... Death causes many feelings in one so close to it, however... perhaps you should take a closer glance to your suspicions." It proceeded to lift up and hold it's (at least) eight feet in length blade between the armored glove-like hands that were part of its own body. "Man sires many of his own problems... however, you are not entirely wrong, son of chaos. We have met before... do you truly wish to know what form of Death stands ( ... )

Even after her weeks in the Void, there were still some nights when Mikuru couldn't sleep through the Void's one hour of nighttime. Worse, there were some nights that the Dark Hour (or so she thought) made her hungry. Food wasn't enough. No, for a time Miracle Mikuru wanted to hurt, to kill, to steal away the miracle of life.

She held back the unfamiliar rage, sometimes leaving one pistol behind on her nighttime wanderings just in case she snapped. But many nights she was awake for the Dark Hour, the feeling was getting harder to ignore.

And so when the winged being set down in the Residential Zone and began to speak, the fear mixed with the rage and her own ignorance of the concept of continuity to create something even worse:

Justification. This winged thing (it didn't matter where it came from) was making her feel scared, making her feel even worse. It must have been what had caused her hunger and her rage, and that of the creature that had hurt Kyon ( ... )

Of course, it scored a direct hit. Ryoji (now, the Avatar) made no attempt to even move away from the lasers. In fact, it was so unfazed from the attack, there was a feeling that it may as well have been a ray of light. ... However, it got 'his' attention well enough. If she would resist, then he would force her down.

So it turned around and was almost instantly above the girl. "... Your resistance is useless. Surely you know that you cannot kill what is never living...?" It was no matter to it, though--the hollow eyes stared down at her, in mock-amusement. "If you struggle, it will only make the end more painful for you... why not simply be quiet and accept it with grace, daughter of man?"

This should be the next concept but I know not what canon would produce it. bunnypassingby August 7 2009, 14:16:05 UTC
The creature's sudden appearance right above her did not faze her in the slightest. If anything, she simply lifted her chin in defiance, in anger.

"Because then I will have failed."

In quenching her hunger? In her mission to protect Itsuki? Even she wasn't sure any more.

But she was certainly sure of her rage, and because of that, she pulled out her twin pistols from the back of her apron, and began firing.

Man if only. ... That would make this place about 100x better. Lord. sees_reaper August 7 2009, 15:25:43 UTC
It was sad--the young girl seemed to be of the opinion she had more of a chance of stopping him than the Persona-users had... it was truly pitiable. With a small raise of his hand, a burst of fire shot out of thin air, melting each of the bullets as they even got remotely close. Even if he hadn't done so, it wouldn't have harmed him, but he needed to prove a point.

"You have already failed. The End cannot be avoided..." And now, the smile widens. Once he is down next to her, he decides to give her a moment to take in his at least twelve foot or so height. There was no need to rush things, after all.

Joshua didn't like the night here.

It wasn't that he was scared of the dark. Nothing of the sort. There was a feeling which permeated the air, something unsettling that whispered at him, though it was as if he couldn't make out what it was saying. In the few short days he'd been here, he'd already felt it reaching for him.

Then, tonight, it came.

He didn't know what it was. Just that it was massive, powerful, dreadful... and somehow, strangely familiar.

It was all he could do to keep from slipping into his more powerful form as he watched it float. Something about the very presence of it was unnerving. Like nothing he'd ever seen before. It was enough to make even him, the Composer of Shibuya, hesitate.

"What are...?"

One of the humans in this place who seemed to hold themselves in a very high esteem with their "powers"... how quaint. Yes, they always realized their mortality when faced with the end, without even truly knowing it was. It was something instinctual, after all.

It turns to look at Joshua, of course, empty eye sockets seemingly looking directly through him. The wings alone with their blue veins are likely unnatural enough, let alone the rest of its form. And its smile widens. "... I am the means by which all life ends. Your soul is unnatural... tainted. Why do you ask...? You surely must feel it... all living creatures know when their time on this world is up."

The eight or so foot sword in its hand is probably not the best thing to be closest to right now....

"My life has already ended," he replied. Though even he knew that was just an argument of semantics, and the fact that he still had an existence was enough to warrant being on guard. There was something about this person that...

That was it. His eyes widened for a moment at the realization. The cold, empty quiet that waited between when he'd perished and when he awoke for the Game, his first Game. The terror of knowing he'd died, not knowing what came next, if there was an afterlife, what would happen to him.

The fear he'd forgotten, long since having become master of that domain. Or so he'd thought.

"And I don't plan on leaving this place any time soon. Unless, of course, it's on my schedule."

Just what was this creature?

"Time brings us all to an equal end... and just as seasons pass and old ideals wither, so too does your kind. It would be unnatural to deny the feelings truly inside your heart... just as it is unnatural to live again after your end."

Whatever Josh is saying doesn't seem to bother the Avatar in the least. It picked up on the little cues; the widening of his eyes, the little bits here and there; he could tell. It wasn't hard to read those of flesh, after all. "I will give you as much a chance as the rest here... your fate is inevitable. Why bother fighting when you know you cannot win...? It will only prolong your misery."

Rabi had been hoping that he would have more time before it happened. He still had his injuries from the fight with Mewtwo, and he had been straining himself to keep up with watching over everyone during the Dark Hour. If he had a month or two to prepare, then he would have been in better shape for this. But it looked like he didn't get a choice in the matter. He would have to do it now, ready or not ( ... )

Ryoji had resisted for as long as was possible for his poor body; it was becoming entirely too difficult for him as things already were. When he'd first spoken with the other he'd regained some amount of hope, but it really didn't take very long for it to begin to dwindle, slowly, until nothing but acceptance was left. When this had happened, he hadn't told anyone the weeks later; he simply withdrew from socialization completely and hid himself as best he could, focusing, trying to control it ( ... )

The feeling was unsettling, and it made Rabi feel like he wanted to hide from the gaze. Still, he knew that he couldn't. He had to stay there and fight. If not him, then who? It wasn't like this place was full of strong fighters. He didn't want everyone else to die like this. He just couldn't. He had to do something, even if it was a futile fight.

Rabi frowned as he considered Ryoji's words, thinking of how to carefully word a response to it. But in the end emotions won out, and Rabi frowned up at Ryoji as he said, "Even if it's a hopeless fight, I'll still fight. You may say that it's inevitable, that the world has to end. But this pin-" he jabbed his thumb at the Vatican Rose on his chest quickly, "Is proof enough to me that this isn't supposed to happen. I'll fight until my last breath to save these people. That's what I'm meant to do."

"Then your existence is meaningless," It said almost instantly. "If you will resist, I will end you sooner." And with that it raised it's sword high above its head; the moonlight seemed to almost halo around it, as if giving it some sort of power. Or as if it were calling something...

Quietly, then, the creature descended from it's height and was behind the exorcist wordlessly, flames sent in his direction. The attack was predated by an almost glowing card appearing; one with a large I on the front of it. It could have used stronger, yes, but clearly it wasn't trying to kill him outright, even though it could.

Light could do nothing but stare.

He had never been frightened. Not in all of his time as KIRA, chased at every turn by L, constantly with his life hanging precariously in his fingertips; he had not been scared through any of it. Furious, maybe, at times, and he knew that, when he should have been scared, he instead became crazed, madly determined to just kill them all--

-- but until L had seen him with the Death Note, turned to him with wide eyes and issued the order to capture him, Light had not been frightened.

He was.

He was terrified. He may have been scared at that moment of death, but he could never recall feeling so helplessly afraid. It was almost as if everything was over as soon as he saw the smiling thing before him.

But Light Yagami was nothing if not stubborn, and he had already decided that he would not lose -- he no longer had a life to bargain with, but he had something, and he would not allow it to be taken from him. Not here. Not now ( ... )

"A fool is he who resists his inevitable end... and one who puts on an act to lie in the face of others. And ever still one who would help Her in the endeavor to help all of mandkind..." It turned, and the large sword was brought with its body as it moved.

"You, son of man, of all people, should understand most why a god would wish nothing but to aid those of mortal flesh and blood... death would do them kindness from their darkness; their despair. So why would it be that one such as yourself would attempt to resist what cannot be changed?"

And those eyes are pointedly gazing right toward you, Light.
