The endless rain had pelted down upon the Network for weeks, and had only become heavier and heavier. It was, most likely, only due to the Void's misunderstanding of physics that it had not yet resulted in any kind of disaster - no landslides, no floods... the worst that had happened was that, right now, the ground was coated in a layer of deep mud.
As it happened, however, the Void's excessive energy was always working with the weird and wonderful ideas these people were bringing in. Playing with them, making sense of them, and inserting its own improvements was an ongoing process. It wasn't its fault that weather was a complex idea, and nor was it its fault that there were a few things missing. To get from Point A to Point B required some essential adaptations.
In this particular case, the water from the relentless rainfall had decided to shape its own container.
Using the Hub as a base upon which to shape itself, and held in by what appeared to be an invisible wall, as the rain continued the Hub began to flood. The rain everywhere else simply carried on in the same manner as it had done before, but over the course of three days the continuous heavy rain filled the Hub completely, blocking off access to all of the Network's primary facilities.
When only the tops of the buildings remained above water, the rain finally came to a sudden halt... but the water stayed precisely where it had been put.
It was by some strange Void Logic that the interiors of the buildings remained dry, and even if the doors were to open they would stay that way. Even the open-air train platform seemed to have some kind of field around it, preventing it from flooding. Unfortunately, reaching them had very quickly been rendered difficult. The water had even blocked access to the Observatory Bridge and the walkway leading to the storage facility.
Thankfully, the three days it took for the Hub to flood entirely allowed plenty of time for the residents to realise what was going on and retreat to safer ground. However, as it became quickly apparent that this glorified puddle was staying put, it was clear that something should, most likely, be done about it.
