How to Save a Life

Okay, so not really, but it does involve my ambulance riding. We got turnout suits yesterday! And they are actually fitted (ish)!

Okay, to translate, a turnout suit is very similar to what you see firefighters wear when they go to fires, except for us is more about the warm jacket and rip proof fabric for car accidents so we don't freeze, don't get sliced up by glass, look all alike (versus a t-shirt and jeans with either a jacket or a vest thrown over it) AND reflective surfaces so people can actually see us! This so totally made my day yesterday. I have to move my snow boots, a scarf and hat along with some gloves down there so that when I get calls in the middle of the night, all I have to do is throw a jacket over my pajamas and run out to my car. I can change at the station now! (and wear warm fleecy pants under my turnout pants to stay warm instead of thin jeans!) Needless to say, I am very happy.

On the bizarre EMT front, I had a dream this morning where I was dreaming about getting a call, then woke up in the dream to the call that I had just dream about in the dream. So it was like a dream within a dream and I remember my boss wondering why I hadn't showed up at the station but it was because the call had been in whatever building I was sleeping in at the time. A bit trippy even for me, particularly since the only reason I knew the kid who was injured in the call was because I had dreamed about him in the dream half of my dream.

And I am pretty sure that makes no sense to anyone but me heheheh. Now off to vacuum the house.

emt, dream
