pondering
sometimes i consider just dropping out of school and joining the army now, not because i don't like school (in fact, i do), but because i could be so much better of a horn player if i spent my time practicing my instrument instead of studying politics and chemistry and other sorts of random things. but i then realize that studying these other subjects will make me a better person. and, honestly, i would rather be an intelligent, knowledgeable person who can play the horn well than an amazing horn player with no other talents or skills.
