if i were a physics major, i think i would have just found my thesis
of course, maybe it's just because i don't want to believe anything my dumbass professor says
i seriously spent the entire class period today (i mean, once we finished the first 15 minutes of discussing mumps and chicken pox) considering disproval of einstein's theory of relativity
maybe it's just because i have a shitty professor so i'm missing a huge chunk of it, but i think the concept of altering time is a little presumptuous.
einstein says time shifts, but all i see is the possibility of altering the speed of light and the doppler effect applied to light.
since velocities are all relative, what happens when two objects move away from each other at half the speed of light? then their relative velocities would be equal to the speed of light. better yet - what if they are both moving just over half the speed of light? does the world end? i mean, to a stationary observer, nothing would happen. but in relation to each other... sure, they would not be able to see each other, but does that mean they would no longer exist? no. the stationary observer would still see both. yes, there would be a shift in the light. but that's no different than the doppler effect.
why is light treated differently than sound? i mean, yeah, light doesn't need a medium in which to travel and sound does... but aren't these effects still the same???
critical thinking at 9 am is dangerous.
very dangerous.
but now this is going to bother me.
why the hell am i sitting here trying to disprove a lifetime of work by one of the greatest physicists ever to live?
profundity,
lk sucks,
professors,
school,
physics
