So this happened today...

It's on my left hip. I've been thinking about getting one done for years, but never actually took the plunge. Then, on Monday I went into the tattoo place, and I talked to the apprentice that was working. We discussed my ideas (I had 4 tattoo designs I liked), discarded the wings because of where I wanted it, and decided on this. Looking at the picture, the downstroke on the treble clef isn't exactly straight, but then, it never is when I draw it either. It's always a little curved when I draw them. I don't really think it's that noticeable anyway. It's a little out of whack because we made the flower larger to actually be able to see the detail. And even then we had to lose a little bit.

It actually wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Yes, some of it hurt, amazingly so. But, most of the time I really only felt the vibrations, and a little pain. When I asked the tattooist what it felt like he said a bee sting. Not really very helpful, because I don't remember the last time I was stung by a bee. So then he said cat scratch, and I have to say, it's probably the closest I could come to describing it. It hurt a little as I walked the few blocks home, and occasionally, as I twist or something, it twinges, but all in all it's ok.

On the plus side, he gave me the remote to the TV and told me to put whatever on. So I watched the last half of In My Time of Dying. Started with Sam and the Oijia Board, ended just before John talked to Dean. I must say, it helped that I had something else to focus on. And I'm proud that I didn't break the remote (I had hold of it the whole time), and I barely made a sound. There were a few pained noises, mainly when the needle hit the nerves, or the bone, but on the whole I was very proud of myself.

I was so nervous all day today. Well, really all week. From the time I booked my appointment. But, looking back, I'm not really sure why. Maybe because I didn't know what to expect?

I had to go into the pharmacy on the way home to get some antibacterial liquid soap and some moisturizing lotion. I have soap and moisturizer but all are scented, and my body wash is an exfoliator. But, all in the name of healing. I don't really want to risk anything marking it. Especially as I won't be around in 6 weeks for the free touch up I can get. I fly home in 4 weeks. But at least it will be healed. And, if I feel it needs it, I can go to the tattoo place at home and get the artist there to do a touch up.

All in all, not as scary as I was imagining (I think watching Jensen running around in hospital gear was a factor in that :D) and I will probably get another one. Eventually. Just not right now. Probably not for a few years at least. But I know I will go again.

My only problem now is that I've got a headache. Not sure why. Maybe from clenching my teeth against the painful parts? Anyway.

Early to bed tonight I'm thinking.
