so, yeah. i'm still alive.
boy am i!
school is ridiculously awesome. i love culinary school so much. i had my first kitchen class right after the break. it was crazy and i was nervous about it, but it was fun every day, and i made mistakes but i know how to correct them, and i know how to do all sorts of stuff now. and i made mayonnaise! that's not the only thing, but that's something that just blows my mind. tartar sauce! consomme! risotto! it's insane! now i'm in a boring ass lecture class, but the next kitchen class is baking. OMG BAKING I'M SO EXCITED!
yeah, so this past week was kinda crazy. i don't have to be at school until 10am for this three weeks. well, tuesday, it iced. and in tx that's a BIG DEAL. night classes were cancelled. most everyone showed up to school in the morning. wednesday, i wake up and check the temp. it's 23 degrees (F, of course), and it rained/sleeted/iced all night. so, every other school district is closed. my school? 2 hour delay. i'm like, well, that sucks. that's the time i have to be at school anyway (for the most part....school usually starts at 7am, but i'm always there uber early). so, i risk life and limb, driving on an inch of ice to school. i am one of 42 students (out of 400?) that show up that day. so what do we do?
first annual ice chef competition. XD the students were broken into two groups, with two chefs on each team presiding over the classrooms. we're given a mystery box, and iron chef style, are told we have 2 hours. so, we made stuff. :) i helped make the garnishes for our entree because i didnt have my kit with me. our two plates look awesome. we take them to the judging room. the other team brought 5 dishes. we were all freaking out and stuff because, omg we only had two. BUT GUESS WHO WON!!!!! yup, my team. :) it was a blast.
so, yeah. i love school.
job front, not so great. i'm still on at bath and body works. i do shipment for them. and occasionally i'm at the front, being a cashier or greeter or whatever. but during the weeknights and the sundays i work, i'm in the back.
so, i never get to dress up. i wore sweatpants the last time i worked. :P
one of my good friends got engaged over the holiday. i've known the guy since 2003 basically (we worked together in plano), and the chick i met in 2006. they met each other about a year ago, promptly started dating, moved in together this summer, and got engaged in december. they are truly perfect for each other, despite the quickness. i'm going to be one of her bridesmaids. she's already got her dress. they're getting married in sept or oct. oh, and i might get to do their cake! isn't that neat! by then i'll have had both my baking skills classes, and will hopefully be able to do a good job. i want to be a pastry chef, so this will be my first outing. :) anyway.... they had their party last weekend. i got to go, seeing all of them for the first time in like two months (all being my group of friends). my ex showed up about halfway through the night. he hugged me and later sent me an email on facebook. he said i was right ( :) ), and that he'd been doing some thinking and was glad i was still a friend. it was awkward in the sense that i didn't expect to see him, i got a hug from him, and then he left. it will be less next time. and we might have to stand up together in the wedding, so.... oh, i spent a lot of the night flirting with one of our friends. he used to work with all of us, and then we all quit, and he lived in california over the summer and now he's back. and i always thought he was cute, but nothings come around, so whatever. he's fun to chat with, and flirt with. and he's cute. :)

oh, the dorito's commercials are hilarious. i have almost cried.
there's a job fair at school on wednesday, so wish me luck. thursday i'm hosting a wine tasting party. :) i'm showcasing a gerwuztraminer from grapevine. it's very tasty.
