Which brings me to Kris Allen! I realize the people who don't actually care about this season of American Idol must be pretty damn sick of hearing about it. And I get you! I'm not here to convert anyone. And, like, I like the Davids a lot and really, REALLY enjoyed last season, but nothing was gonna get me interested in them in a fannish way, partly because I occasionally felt like it was being shoved down my throat. :/ So I understand completely!
That said, I just need to GUSH ABOUT THE DUDE SO MUCH. Like, I don't understand how this man can be real. His favorite show is Boy Meets World! He says things like 'kick awesome' and 'dope'. ♥ He couldn't say 'bench' on TV because with his accent it sounds like 'bitch'. (LMFAO WILL NEVER NOT BE FUNNY.) He did missionary work in Thailand and brought an expensive guitar along and LEFT IT THERE so the kids could keep enjoying it. He has a really cool wife that he clearly respects a lot, like, he doesn't want her on tour with him because she's got her own life and her own job to take care of. I just.
And possibly my favorite thing about him. He most likely knew that Adam found him attractive, and yet he was still like, "that's cool. I'm just gonna plant my face in your giant shoulder and hug you to smithereens at every opportunity, okay?" I have YET to find an interview where he doesn't bring up how awesome he thinks Adam is, or how talented, or how good friends they are. He's so comfortable with himself and who he is that he doesn't have to talk about loving someone in the "godly way" (EURGH :/) or clarify his friendship with Adam just because one of them happen to be gay. He's a Christian who doesn't need to shout it from the rooftops, and most of all he's an AWESOME Christian who talks about understanding and acceptance and I think he LITERALLY said "why can't everyone get along?" one time. HE CALLED GOKEY A JERK ON LIVE TELEVISION, OKAY. Gokey was being rude to Adam, all right, and it was just awesome.
And it's not even like - like, forget about shipping and all that stuff. (It's always fun to play pretend, but I get so weirded out by the people who legit think there's something going on and wants Kris to leave his wife. :/ UM, PLEASE GO PLAY IN ANOTHER SANDBOX.) I just love that they're such good friends and used that to support each other on the show. I love that they keep telling people that they hope their friendship is an inspiration, because it's made people talk, and made them aware. And even if that awareness is only gonna last for a couple of months, it was still there. The talk about how unlikely their friendship is and how nice it is to see still happened.
And! Kris only wanted votes for his music, not because he's Christian! HEARTS. And I love how he was meant to be canon fodder that would get kicked off after two weeks, but then HE BESTED THEM ALL. Freaking HEARTLESS, okay. I love how he does what he knows he's good at, and doesn't try to go for notes he can't reach, because even though he's got a "weaker" voice or whatever, he's the one whose voice so far has gotten through to me the most. I love him and I legit can't wait for his album. He's so talented, and so humble, and so chill and laid-back and comfortable with himself.
