(no subject)
Saturday morning I downloaded all the chapters of shoebox_project in PDF form, which someone has kindly converted for the masses, sat outside on our terrace with my breakfast, and started reading. I have read all weekend. And it's been glorious. I'd forgotten how incredibly GOOD that story is. I mean, I knew I loved it, but I'd forgotten why, you know? And it was so nice to read it cover to cover, which I've never done before. Today I went out and bought myself some chocolate, because how can you read Shoebox and not have chocolate nearby? You cannot.
Chapter 23 remains one of the most amazing things I have ever read in the fanfic world. It is Gorgeous and Deserves Capital Letters. As well as the Losing Moony chapter, although I've forgotten which number that was. It is all so, so pleasant to read, because the way they put words together makes the reader in me purr contentedly. And the writer in me WEEP, but that's a whole other story altogether. (I WILL NEVER WRITE AGAIN I AM NOT WORTHY.)
Okay, I am officially babbling. Point is, I fangirl this story as much as Sirius and James fangirl the Prewett brothers, which is the most fantastic kind of fangirling ever. And I had such a wonderful weekend because of it. I should really do this more. I'll get way more novels read that way. Oh, the attention span, it has shortened so much over the years. I used to read fanfic novels all the time! And now I have to physically remove myself from the internet to do it. Tragic.
