Saw OotP tonight and LOVED IT. Will keep this brief so I don't have to type for too long.
- Once again we have proof that while Daniel practically does nothing for me when he's just Daniel, he just has to put those glasses on and I am PUDDY. It's a total mystery to me! But OH MY GOD, such a pretty emo boy.
- Dean grew up good. Jesus.
- I loved that I actually recognized scenes and dialogue from the books. I haven't read OotP in three years, but there were still things I remembered and I really appreciate that.
- Ron was not a wimp! YAY! I cheered a lot on the inside when he went, "Does anyone else have a problem with Harry?" And they kept the Harry/Seamus fight! I remember loving that a lot when I read the book.
- Seriously. Dean grew up really good.
- They pretty much threw every single ship a bone, didn't they? Did NOT go unappreciated, let me tell you. It was awesome.
- Speaking of ships, HOW AWESOME WERE HARRY AND LUNA TOGETHER? They've been my new favorite ship for a few months now and I LOVED THEM SO MUCH OH MY GOD. Evanna Lynch was so good. She totally lived up to all her hype. They better give her precious screentime in HBP, that's all I'm saying.
- I was really, really pleasantly surprised by Dan's performance. The scene where he's possessed in particular, and the one after in Dumbledore's office. (Although I was looking forward to the capslock freakout, which we never got.) And his crushing on Cho, GOD SO CUTE. And you totally felt like he was in charge during the DA scenes. But again, once you put him in those glasses I'm completely gone, so I might not have any objectivity at all. Also, he was so deliciously toned. I was very happy with all the close-ups we got of his neck. (Good God, I'm such a perv, is he eighteen yet?)
- Not enough Draco Malfoy. Woe. I was so hoping for the "you're dead, Potter" scene.
- When Sirius called, "Nice one, James!" I think I broke a little on the inside. OUCH.
- Helena Bonham Carter and Imelda Staunton were just as fantastic as I knew they would be. Umbridge was just as creepy as she is in the book and Bellatrix was wonderfully crazy. SUCH an awesome cast.
- Going back to the ships again, Harry/Neville got a little love! Oh my precious, precious ship. Neville was so sweet in this movie.
- The DA scenes were fantastic. As well as the trio scenes, and the Department of Mysteries. So really, the key parts of the movie were all really well done.
- I really, really, REALLY loved the possession scene. I even got a little misty-eyed, I'm not gonna lie.
- People who haven't read the books are gonna be completely blind-sided by Harry/Ginny in the next movie, aren't they? Aside from a couple of jealous glances when Harry/Cho flirting was going on, Ginny barely had any screentime. But then again, the relationship comes up from out of nowhere in the book, too, so I guess it evens out. (/bitter. Want Harry/Luna, dammit!)
- What purpose did Kreacher serve?
- How cute were Ron and Hermione in this movie? I'm totally all H/Hr, but I could not deny the cuteness. Of course, I was happy with the H/Hr scenes, too. Harry goes to her for everything. *draws hearts*
Okay, so that did not end up short. In conclusion, I thought it was wonderful and I'd go see it again in a heartbeat. Although I should probably wait until I'm feeling a little better. Dammit. (I hear David Yates is directing the next movie as well? Awesome. He can keep going for all I'm concerned.)
