I just wanted to say, thank you guys for all of your awesome support and advice! ^___^ I didn't expect to read so many good points that I hadn't really considered, so I just wanted to say/clarify a few things in return:
a) That advice about eating "more healthy" instead of focusing on losing weight is sound advice, and I'm going to try it. I'm definitely eating more small, low-fat snacks (like fruit!) and smaller meals, which is the first step for me.
b) I'm not actually swimming right now, hence the worry about fat-muscle ratio o_O (probably). I'm taking a step-aerobics class with an instructor who wants us to "firm up our buns" though...but sometimes I feel like it's not enough for somebody who used to swim hard sets 2 hours a day, 5 days a week!
c) Thank you to all of you who expressed concern about my, er, ambitious goals ^^" Know that I would never consider a Lindsay Lohan alternative :) Clarification: I'm a whopping 5"1 (I know, gigantic, right?) and currently weigh 120 pounds. My BMI is 22.7 according to
chewy_chan 's BMI calculator--I don't have a measuring tape so I can't do
shadowravyn 's, but thank you both!!.
This is in about the middle of the average BMI range (18.4-24.9), and I can tell you for a fact that I've lost a lot of muscle but gained a little weight since I stopped swimming. My goal is to exercise and eat in a way that I can turn all of that into lean muscle and still look nice & healthy :) I won't over do it, guys!!
My target BMI is 20.0. To me, it's neither too high nor too low; I know you could say the same thing about my current BMI, but I'm really determined to make some positive changes in my life right now. A BMI of 20.0 would mean (assuming I don't grow any taller, boo-hoo) weighing 106 pounds, which leaves room for about 14 pounds of leeway...
d) A few weeks ago, I did the Special K challenge and successfully lost around 4 to 5 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained it all back in one week--not just because of the rebound effect, but because of stress. Deciding that I'm going to put this health regime into effect for an extended period of time is to make sure I don't overdo it like that again, because I sure as heck binged during that week!
^^ But I've also decided to focus on health, like you guys said, so exercise and moderation it is! Thanks so much again for all of your help--I'll definitely keep everyone updated (whether you like it or not! ;] ).
