The Very Potter Meme

Jun 28, 2010 22:11

I stole this from amethysth but me, not being patient enough to do it over a span of 30 days (actually, I'm procrastinating on my programming hw), I'm going to do it all right here :D

By the way, I also watched the trailer and got the CHILLS. I am so gosh darned excited and want to have an immediate discussion about it when it comes out in November, who's with me?

<<>>

1: Your favorite book.
Goblet of Fire, hands down! I love the whole idea of international wizarding schools and, of course, all of the romance and darker side that gets introduced. I remember being on the edge of my seat and actually sweating when I read the last half for the first time. Although I really like PoA, too.

2: Your favorite movie.
Also GoF, but maybe it has to do with liking the book so much. Also, I feel like it's the movie where the actors really mature (characters in the book, too!).

3: Is there any of the films adaptations that have made you angry because they’ve ignored important parts of the book?
They cut out a lot of explanations in OotP about Dumbledore's Army and the snitch (Marietta's cut out completely), and Quidditch isn't nearly as big a part as it is in the books--plus, Umbridge just seems like a mean old hag rather than the vile woman she really is. I can't think of anything else right now (I'm sure there's more--oh yeah, Harry's green eyes? I saw an icon once that made fun of people who complain about the color of Hermione's dress but not the eye color). Overall, I think they did a pretty good job, even if it's not always spot on.

4: Least favorite female character and why.
Either Bellatrix or Umbridge. They both have such issues! Bellatrix is a sadist, of course, and Umbridge is possibly even more infuriating just because she's been given license to be incompetent (and even a torturer). Plus, her cough makes me want to slap her entire family five generations back across the face.

5: Favorite male character and why.
Cedric Diggory, because I always imagined him as cute and charming and hard-working. I always picked him on those online quizzes :) I like Draco too, though, because of his change near the end of the series (and okay, I admit, his evilness is kind of hot), and I suppose Dumbledore, just because he's freakin' amazing.

6: What House would you want to be in?
I always thought Ravenclaw, since Cho Chang was in it and I really liked her, but I'd probably be in Hufflepuff...

7: Favorite female character and why?
Hermione Granger--I thought J.K. Rowling did a great job developing her as both an intellectually and emotionally savvy gal; I've always wanted to have booksmarts comparable to hers! I also have to say Luna Lovegood, because she's so unperturbed and doesn't care what anyone thinks at all. Cho Chang and Tonks are also on my list (Cho because I identified with her first; Tonks, because she's so free-spirited).

8: What do you think would be your favorite lesson?
Charms! I think those are the most interesting/useful spells.

9: Least favorite male character.
I kind of just wanted Fenrir Greyback to DIE.

10: Horcruxes or Hallows?
Oh, damn. Ummm, I guess I would try to destroy the Horcruxes...

Day 11: What character would you say you are most like.
Probably a nondescript character, haha. Maybe a bit like one of the Quidditch girls or something, sporty and friendly but not super important.

12: Favorite ship.
Ron and Hermione, Cedric and anyone he damn well pleases to be with, Luna and Neville (or Harry? haha).

13: Least favorite movie.
Didn't take much of a fancy to the second.

14: Team Voldemort or Team Harry?
Harry, of course--never was into that whole anti-protagonist (i.e. antagonist) thing.

15: Who would be your best friends at Hogwarts? (three only)
Hermione, maybe one of the twins, and Cedric/Oliver Wood (haha, probably not a very good mix--but I want the best of all of them!).

16: Favorite professor?
Lupin if he was still teaching, otherwise Flitwick!

17: Are you excited about The Deathly Hallows movie or scared it won’t do the book justice?
Both. More worried about how they're dividing it and playing off the mainstream hype now, though.

18: Least favorite book?
Never liked OotP, although it's better now that I've reread it--Harry seems less whiny :D

19: Do you prefer the books or films?
Books, of course! They're my life source.

20: If you had to meet one member of the cast, who would it be?
Mm, wow--it'd probably be a three-way tie between Emma Watson (Hermione--she seems very down to earth and conversational), Rob Pat (Cedric--BEFORE he was in Twilight though!), and Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood--it'd be nice to meet somebody a bit less famous, but still cool!). On second thought, the list goes on--Tom Felton, Daniel Radcliffe, the twins...

21: Out of all the characters that died, if you could bring one back, who would it be?
Might just be Dobby, he's just so...loyal. Tonks, Lupin, or Dumbledore, too.

22: Harry Potter or Twilight?
What? Is that even a serious question?

23: Any part of the books/movies that makes you cry?
Books: Sirius' death, Dumbledore's death, Hedwig's death, Dobby's death, Fred's death...so much sadness.
Films: I think I almost cried when Voldemort put his foot on Cedric's face in the graveyard.

24: Any particular scene you wished would have been put in the movie but it wasn’t?
A bunch, yes. Can't think of any off the top of my head.

25: Nineteen years later. Are you happy how it turned out, or do you wish something was different, ie Neville married Luna?
Oh goodness, no. First off, somebody else should have named their kids (not even Ginny--she named her owl Pig, remember?). I didn't really like how all these new names (i.e. the kids) were thrown in there, it was pretty distracting when I just wanted it to wind down and provide closure. The last three words are also kind of awful--I remember turning the page to see if there was more, even when I was rereading it. More about the lives of the others would've been nice--wordy, but nice. And yes, Neville and Luna--I can see that :D

26: If you could be able to work one spell without a wand what would it be?
I want to say Apparation, but I guess accio or something like that--nothing too exciting, but it should be useful.

27: Would you rather own The Invisibility Cloak, The Resurrection Stone or The Elder Wand?
Elder wand! But not because it's powerful--because I'd want a wand :D

28: Do you listen to Wizard Wrock, what do you think about it?
Haha, um, no. Good for people who do, though?

29: Did you enjoy A Very Potter Musical?
Yes, yes, and YES. Can't wait for the sequel!!

30: What effect has Harry Potter made on your life and how much does it mean to you?
Everything. It was pretty much the defining work of my generation, and I'm so grateful that I got to have the experience of growing up alongside Harry and his friends. It sounds cliche, but it really did draw me into a whole new world that I could really escape to.
