We were discussing collecting data in my comm class today and someone mentioned the fact that by examining someone you were altering them hence the study is null and void.
So the professor begins to talk about how people often asked if males could be raped by females (strap ons aside) since males need to be erect to have sex. He continued speaking of some studies involve attaching men's genitalia to machines and gathering data regarding their erections. Many would think the fact the men were placed in a strange room and then had then genitalia hooked up to a machine would mean they might have trouble maintaining an erection.
The studies however have proven that men can maintain an erection during anything...when theyre cold, scared, in pain, crying, laughing, writing an essay etc.
Now did they really need to do a study to prove that?
