Who: Jack, Ianto and Toshiko
When: Immediately after Tosh detected some rift activity.
Where: Someplace in Cardiff.
What: Jack, Tosh and Ianto check out the rift activity and find something a little disturbing.
Status: Incomplete.

"Okay, hang on."

Toshiko settled herself, turned on the monitor and moved the keyboard into place. "I've got a reading at... grid ref: 317600,173900. It doesn't seem to be moving." Checking where the reference was for, she groaned when the answer appeared. "It's made it to the Retail Park."

With his usual stoic 'Yes, Sir', Ianto had followed Jack and Tosh. He'd climbed into the passenger seat and held onto the door since Jack was driving. Still drove like a mad man at times, that hadn't changed at all.

Of course the SUV was implacable and ready to go even after it's last use. Ianto Jones always made sure of that. As always he sat quietly while the others did their job. Ready and waiting to do his.

...Which, out on the field, he was never quite sure what that was.

"Great," Jack said, glancing at his watch. It was just after four in the afternoon. "So you're telling me we're going to have a lot of witnesses."

He glanced at Ianto. "Can you check the computer and see if any reports have been called in yet?" He snorted lightly. "Either to police or the media, I don't care which. I'll take any information about the disturbance at this point."

"We've lost it again," Toshiko warned, then began to try and get the signal back.

"Hello?" Jack called out. "We know you're there. We don't want to hurt you. Step out from behind the bin!"

He crept forward as he called to the being, but nothing emerged. "Show yourself!" he demanded.

Moving close to the wall, Toshiko attempted to see between it and the bin. There did seem to be something there, but she couldn't tell what, it didn't seem to be moving either. Glancing towards Jack, she shrugged, then moved away from the wall.

Ianto couldn't help but smile slightly. He hid it quickly so if anyone where to look they wouldn't have seen it. But Jack raising his voice and playing 'The Captain'... it had something. He'd missed that too.

Not that he could linger on that for long, they had a job to do.

Taking up a strategic point in the alley, he kept his gun ready and his eyes open. Jack could handle any alien, with Tosh assisting. He was going to keep an eye on their surrounding. If they could get out of here without having to retcon anyone that would be lovely.

Jack waved for Tosh to stay behind him and he crept towards the bin.

"Show yourself!" he called out again, but he had no intention of simply waiting any longer. He stepped around the bin, keeping as much distance as possible, his gun out in front of him, aimed steadily at the creature.

"It's..." He didn't get to finish the sentence, warning the others that it was the same as the creature he and Gwen had encountered at the bar. It lashed out, scratching Jack's neck from just below his jaw almost to his collarbone.

"OPEN FIRE!" he shouted, stumbling as he regained his footing and raised his own weapon again to do just that.
