Jack strode into the Hub a little ahead of Ianto (but not too far) and noticed Tosh at her desk.

"Tosh, what have you got for me?" he asked.

Still distracted by her conversation with Owen, Toshiko blinked, then stared up at Jack. Usually she was ready and waiting with answers to anything he was likely to ask (but not this time).

"Um... quiet, really. There's some residual energy traces from what happened the other night, which is a bit unusual, but I'm monitoring it. Oh and there are signs of activity around Newport again, no idea why. Maybe it's the traffic lights or something."

"Traffic lights?" Jack said, giving her an odd look. He shook his head and stepped aside to give Ianto a path to Tosh's desk. "We got lots of readings for you to play with," he told her. "Has Owen started on the autopsy yet?"

While Jack had gone ahead, Ianto had unloaded the SUV. He'd collected the date for Tosh on a very handy USB stick and carried the one scanner they'd used upstairs as well. He came in just as Tosh explained to Jack the progress of the case.

Which was... None at all, really.

Giving his friend a smile, Ianto slipped passed Jack and deposited all the things Tosh could 'play' with on her desk. "Probably nothing new," he said apologetic, "but we'll leave it in your expert hands."

And with that he stepped back and moved to stand behind Jack. From the corner of his eyes he could glance into the Medbay where Owen /appeared/ to be fairly busy.

Jack left reluctantly and only because it involved getting something Owen needed to treat Gwen. Jack knew that look on Owen's face, even if he wasn't saying it outloud. Torchwood's medic didn't know what was happening. Of course he'd be thorough and if the smallest thing was wrong with Gwen, he'd find it.

But that theory involved something being wrong with Gwen.

As Owen started examining her more carefully, her brow crinkled into slight worry. And since it was still bleeding despite the stitches being intact....well, that couldn't be good.

Gwen bit the inside of her cheek thoughtfully before answering, "Well, my arm feels a bit hot from where the cut was. But, mostly I'm feeling chilly." She watched Owen, "I just...assumed that was part of the healing process." She knew that was ridiculous, but hey, she wasn't a doctor. And she was used to gunshot wounds, not alien scratches.

"Yeah, I wouldn't worry, just your body dealing with things. You don't feel dizzy?" Owen asked, offhandedly, as if it was an afterthought.

"They're in a box on the bottom shelf. Alcove next to the fridge," he yelled, in case Jack was having trouble finding them. He'd get some swabs done, then clean up the wound and re-bandage, only problem he had was he wouldn't have anything to work with properly, until the autopsy was completed on the alien that had inflicted this. Sighing, he glanced towards the autopsy archway. "Any luck?"

Jack jogged up the stairs, tossing the box to Owen as soon as he was close enough to the top.

"What's going on?" he asked as he resumed his position near Gwen's shoulder.

"Nothing you need to worry yourself about, young lady," Jack told Gwen, giving her a gentle but insistent nudge towards her own desk. She should be sitting somewhere and if she refused to sit on the couch, she needed to sit in her chair.

He watched as Tosh called up the details on the second alert.

"Right," he said. "Ianto," he called across the room. "Tosh," he added. "With me." He looked at Gwen. "You stay here with Owen."

Gwen sighed as Jack steered her back to her desk. She wanted to be involved, out in the field. With Jack gone for so long, she was too used to being in charge of everything. And even when she had a horrible flu, she had still come to work and led the others. She slumped into her chair and leaned her chin on her palm as she stared up at her computers.

"Fine, fine," she said, sitting up and checking a few things on her screens.

Nodding in acknowledgement, Toshiko watched as Jack manoeuvred Gwen back to her chair, then stood up. Grabbing her earpiece and PDA, she pulled on her coat, then moved to follow Jack.

Smiling across at Gwen, she said, "Don't worry about the alert, I've left it so it'll bleep a couple of times and then stop. you won't have to deactivate it manually."

"Let's go, Tosh!" Jack called, even as he strode through the cog door, his coat billowing out behind him.
