Santa sent along an early gift! I apologize that I'm posting it late...don't shoot the messenger?
Title: Handel-A Christmas Teaser for
LadyoneillAuthor: Shhh! It’s a secret!
Pairing: Jenny/Giles
Setting: BtVS Season 2, before The Dark Age
Rating: Oh, maybe PG. It’s pretty tame.
Note: Tomorrow is the 36th anniversary of the Do-It-Yourself Messiah, a Chicago tradition. (Maybe elsewhere too?) If you don’t know, you buy a copy of the score, there’s an orchestra, and you sing along. It’s great fun, and it would probably scare Giles (which I love). Merry Christmas, Ladyo- I hope you enjoy!

“Um, Jenny, I, uh, beg your pardon, but I did think you said we were attending a holiday musical performance tonight.” Giles polished his glasses anxiously as they stood in line outside the theater.
“Mmm-hmmm.”
“The, um, classic Handel’s Messiah, if I’m not mistaken.”
“That’s right, Rupert,” Jenny replied serenely.
“Yes, well, very good. If you could just explain, um..”
“Explain what, Rupert?”
“Why did you bring along copies of the score?”
“Ah, yes. This one’s for me, and this one.. is… for… you!” She flipped through the folder and pulled out a packet of dog-eared pages with the baritone line highlighted. “Sorry it’s a little beat up. I had to borrow it-didn’t want to have to buy a new one.”
“Yes, um, but… why…” Giles resumed his polishing.
“You’ve never been to a Do-It-Yourself Messiah?” Jenny asked, incredulous.
“Do it yourself?” Giles’ polishing hand froze. “Rather than hearing artists perform a fine old work we shall, um…”
“Sing it ourselves. Yes. It’s fun. It’s traditional. It brings classical music to the masses. It’s all the stuffy things you like made a little bit, you know, modern.” She leaned closer, close enough to murmur in his ear. “You know I’ve been waiting forever to hear you sing.” She paused, grinning wickedly as Giles blushed to the roots of his thinning hair. “And you’re adorable when you’re embarrassed.” He settled his glasses back in place.
“Yes, well, you could have warned me. A-adorable, you say?”
“And miss the squirming?” She leaned in close again. “Trust me. Give it a try. I’ll make it worth your while.” She winked mischievously, and Giles, if it was possible, turned a more brilliant shade of crimson. Adorable, indeed, she thought.
