Ok ok we know its been like a month since we updated this thing… Greg wants to blame it on a nomadic wizard who won all our fingers in an intense game of guess who…thus making it impossible to type. But guess who is only a 2 player game, and there are 4 of us. Making it kind of impossible for a wizard to win all of our fingers in a single game…and with that, we are going to summarize everything that’s happened since the last entry, and get with the current events…
Man, I think where we last left off with the hoopla was when we saw that piece of shit meteor crater. Oh, and the show in Austin with the trail of dead . Ok well after that, we made way to Houston … it was good times as we made new friends with the 2 new bands. A band from Dallas called
UGLY COLORS, and the local Houston band
HEIST AT HAND...the turn out was whatever, but we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we had the next couple days off after that, but the heist at hand kids were nice enough to let us occupy their floors and watch there bootleg dvd’s. they also allowed us to use their practice space for a couple of hours so we could work on a new jam tentatively titled EXTRA DOOM. Its named after a slurpee machine that isn’t named extra doom at all…
After what seemed like a month in texas, we made our way to new Orleans to get some huge ass beers and hand grenades. Got some vegan gumbo at this place called the Gumbo Shop. Then proceeded to take a trolly car out of the French quarter to see something different. We saw 2 bums argue over a walking stick. After that we started driving to Birmingham Alabama where we play to the least amount of people that we have ever played to, to date… it was fun though, it was basically band practice, but the bar gives you money and a shit ton of free booze. After that we drove to Hotlanta Georgia to start our week with label mates
THE LETTERS ORGANIZE...All the shows we did with them were great turn outs and really fun. In we had some drama with one particular venue though. The owner was accusing bands of breaking things. the cops were called and they put one of the dudes from letters in hand cuffs. Even though he didn’t do anything. The owner wanted $$$ to keep from pressing charges. Then he started throwing our shit around and told everyone to get out...The guy sucks… eventually, everything got sorted and the cuffs were removed... we had a lot of fun that week, and hope that we get to play more shows (or do a tour) with Letters in the not so distant future…
After that, we start heading up the east coast… Got the finger from Richmond, VA. Played what could have been a great show in DC, if the kids didn’t get busted/ sent home for drinking and doing drugs outside of the venue right before we went on. Make our way to NYC to meet up with our friends
NAKATOMI PLAZA...if there is one band you should check out, it is this one. They have a new record that they are shopping around right now, but you can hear tracks from it on their myspace page. Also, if you didn’t know, Jay Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) produced it! We play a show at the Knitting Factory that apparently was over sold by like 10 tickets, which is awesome! But we played downstairs and had to throw our backs out by carrying all of our equipment down and then back up 3 flights, which was not awesome.
We continue to do a week with Nakatomi and end up in Eriks and Martys home town of Bath, NY. We play what is the biggest show in Bath ever!!! It was at the Days Inn and over 200 kids came. The bill was Marathon, Nakatomi Plaza, Bullet Train, The Red Death, and Erik and Marty’s side project The Martyr Magdalene… to follow this show was probably the most intense donut eating contest ever. Between 2 champion donut eating Mikes, Mike Murray and Mike Wilkenson. Murray’s “pace himself” strategy was no match for Wilkensons “see how many he can fit in his mouth at one time strategy”. Wilkenson dominated Murray from the strike of the bell. 13 to 10 was the final…
From there we started heading back west…had an amazing show in Springfield, Missouri. Eventually make it to Seattle, WA where we play the vera project with our friends Akimbo. We pick up our new roadie Dylan, and make our way back to LA…we had a day off and it just so happened to be june 7th, so we all went to the stores to see our record on the shelves. Packed our bags back up, and started heading out to Albequerque, NM to meet up with
PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS.
.
Which brings us up to date…
