FAQ

Jul 22, 2014 19:13

Now, seeing as not everyone might be familiar with the concept of a kink meme, and several other terms pertaining to anonymous prompting, we've compiled a quick FAQ for anyone wanting more information! Much of the information has been collected and written up by the mods over at sherlockbbc_fic, on their own FAQ, and we'd like to send our thanks for allowing us to adapt parts of their FAQ for this post!

Regarding do-nots:
What is flaming?
What is kinkshaming?
What is racism/ableism?
What are derogatory comments?

Others:
What are ratings?
Is ___ allowed?
Useful HTML
How are we going to keep track of everything?

What is flaming?
Flaming is criticism that is not constructive. “People will find your fills easier to read if you use punctuation” is constructive. “You suck and your writing sucks” is a flame. Flaming will be deleted, even if disguised as constructive criticism. [back to top]

What is kinkshaming?
Telling someone that a kink is gross or wrong is kinkshaming. Implying there’s something morally wrong with the contents of a prompt or a fill is kinkshaming. Saying that a prompt or a fill would be better if it didn’t contain a certain kink is kinkshaming. Asking for clarification of a prompt is fine; asking why someone would want to read a fic containing certain elements is kinkshaming.

Everyone has their kinks, and nobody should be shamed for what they like. Here on the meme, we will not tolerate others who shame others. [back to top]

What is racism/ableism?
Racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Comments that put down another race will immediately be screened or deleted.

Ableism is discrimination in favour of able-bodied people. Comments putting down those who are not able-bodied will also be screened or deleted. We will not tolerate such things on the meme. [back to top]

What are derogatory comments?
These are, simply put, comments that put down other people. These comments are considered hurtful and offensive. This covers words/remarks insulting and disrespectful in regards to race, sexual orientation, gender, age, and religion. Any such comments containing these kind of remarks will be screened or deleted. [back to top]

What are ratings?
Age ratings are used to aid readers in knowing what kind of content they may be about to read. Some people may not enjoy reading content of an explicit nature, and ratings are there to help them avoid those things. When making a fill on the meme, we ask that fillers put in place appropriate ratings to make sure everyone remains comfortable.

Examples of common ratings are:

G
PG
PG-13
R
NC-17

And others may be familiar with ratings such as:

General
Teen and Above
Mature
Explicit

Whereas other crowds might be suited to these ratings:

K
K+
T
M

Either way, it is up to you, filler, what kind of ratings you choose to use, as long as they are appropriate for the content posted. [back to top]

Is ___ allowed?
Some memes may allow certain things, and others may not. Below, we've added a list of things that are allowed on the meme, that some people might wonder about when wanting to post a prompt or a fill. Keep in mind, these are allowed:

Underage content
All kinks (light/heavy)
Graphic violence/gore
Non-con/dub-con
Depictions of mental illnesses/disorders

However, all of these things must come with the right warnings! If we spot anything without the appropriate warnings, we will screen and/or delete immediately. For a list of what to warn for, please refer to our guide on warnings here. [back to top]

Useful HTML
We allow the usage of certain HTML on the meme, and for those who are more accustomed to using visual editors and rich text editors rather than raw HTML, here's a little section to refer to!

bold
this is bold text
this is bold text!

italics
this is italicised text!
this is italicised text!

We will not permit colour changes, different fonts or size changes, for sake of uniformity and ease of reading. As for linking, you may paste the link directly into the comment, to avoid your comment being marked as spam. [back to top]

How are we going to keep track of everything?
With each post that goes out, we will post a list of fills that have been made in the previous post, so don't worry about missing anything!

And we will also keep a gigantic masterlist of all fills posted onto the meme, to make sure all fills can be found quickly and easily. [back to top]
