What is Obon??
Today is Obon and I went to Bon Odori(Bon dancing day) after work.
My students asked me about Jenna again. My students hope play with Jenna in the park again. Jenna was so nice teacher for them (^^)
Bon odori was fun!!! I'll talk about Obon and Bon Odori.
Originally celebrated in mid-July according to the lunar calender,Bon, the Festival of Souls, is now held from August 13 to 16.
This is a Buddhist Festival in honor of spirits of the dead who return to their families. On the first day, spirits of ancestors are welcomed by an open-air fire,and o the night of the last day another open-air fire is made to see them off to the other world. And we dance( Bon Odori )for comfort spirits of the dead.This is one of Japanese culture. Hmm explanation is very hard for me especially in English..(;_;)
