(no subject)
So, Its been a little while since an update. Today work just got about 5 times busier and I know I'll be doing some overtime this week which kinda sucks since I have a Time Trial in Markham on Thursday and was hoping to get out early on Friday. We'll see how that goes. On the plus side, I just joined the Midweek Cycling Club which means I am Ontario Cycling Association Insured and will no longer have to pay for Daily insurance at future races this year, that means the University Cup Races will be a lot cheaper than last year! Hurray. PLUS, there was a 'Learn to Race' Clinic Monday night which I went to in Missisauga and learned a bunch of new racing techniques, how to ride effectively in a paceline, cornering, recognizing where to attack, and all that jazz! AND, we had a Novice Criterium race towards the end of the night which I took 1st place! very exciting! I know I'm not THAT good but winning my first road race was a fun experience. I was talking to the race director and he would like to keep me in the program for another week or two so I can learn more racing techniques, but he seemed to think I had pretty good form to begin with, and mentioned a lot is learned in races, and that he can hook me up with some riders and maybe even a coach/mentor in Oshawa!! So in a few weeks I will move on to the intermediate race and see how I do there. Hopefull I will get out with the Waterloo Flying Dogs In september and learn a few things.
I am excited that the work term is almost over, that means back to school and back to hanging out with friends on a more regular basis. :) I also bought a web domain today! www.mechalomaniacs.com, the name of my class. I will be working on this site for the remainder of august for my class, though nothing is up right now, I have to wait for all the administration to go through.
Other than that, I am heading home to NF this weekend and will hopefully be catchin some spare Z's, seeing old friends and working on the website by then. Also I should be packing for Waterloo so it's not left to the last minute, as well as get in a good ride, I'm gonna go for 160k! aka 100miles, We'll see how I fare, I have 3 days on the weekend! My family is on vacation this week but they will be home when I get back, yay family :) Any NF'ers that wanna see me on the weekend, you know how to get in touch.
