Speaking of relationships - How do you think Lee feels about the burgeoning relationship between Bill and Laura? At the end of season 3?
you know, i've thought a lot about this and it is one of the issues I wish the show would have dealt more with so far...
You'd think of the classic reaction of son being hurt and betrayed by the thought of the father replacing the mother with another woman in a sense. But then...the show has that wonderful way of showing what it really would mean to humans if the world were to end. Relationships would mean different things because the people lost and the people who remain is all that truly defines the human race.
Anyone left is grasping for some sense of future. The easiest outlet is love. The one thing that defines humans...love is the truest sense.
Lee/Kara, Bill/Laura...it may not be the most logical choices of love which..in my opinion...make it the most real.
You can't choose who you love. I think that's the one thing the two men...father and son...can really respect and relate to in eachother. Yes, the show seems to dance around the recognition of the two relationships (bill realizing the depth of Lee/Kara and Lee realizing the depth of Bill/Laura)...but I think leaving that open for us to discuss like this is the best decision the writers could make. I love thinking of what it would be like if one was angered by the relationship or if they were happy or supportive.
Anyway, long reply without a real answer. That's all I got :P
I've always sorta figured Lee would be more laid back about a relationship between Bill and Laura than Bill would be about Lee/Kara.
In the mini Lee says his mom's getting remarried and eventually we find out that his relationship with her wasn't all that great either. So I don't really expect Lee to feel betrayed/ get too worked up over by Bill/Laura.
On the other hand I think Bill has come to consider Kara his daughter but it stems from them bonding over Zak. I think Bill would feel (at least initially) that any type of romantic relationship between Kara and Lee was a betrayal of Zak's memory and that's not something he handles well.
I think in the end you're right, the Adamas would (if they were able to be successful in these relationships) end up having more respect for and a closer bond with each other as they commiserated about the pitfalls of being with strong women. ;-)
