As predicted, mail was super-slow this week. I did get the 12 plush and my Banana Splits annual arrived, but that's it. So, as promised, here's the big collection post! Now, while I call it a big post, there will only be 5 photos xD but there will likely be lots of text about the items featured.
So, without further ado, here we begin the collection post!
Plush
I have this pic in a larger size so you can get a better glance at who's in it. Time for the roll call! ("Here, Roll! Come on, Roll!" xD Sorry, Banana Splits joke)
Ranger John Smith, Yogi Bear (x3), Fleegle, Cindy Bear, Magilla Gorilla, Boo Boo Bear, Peter Potamus, Huckleberry Hound (x2), Atom Ant, Touche Turtle, Drooper, Snagglepuss (x2), Secret Squirrel, Top Cat, Snorky, Bingo, Quick Draw McGraw and Augie Doggie.
Ranger Smith, one Yogi, Cindy and Boo Boo were from a set that came in Maxi Kinder Surprise. Missing from the set is Fibber Fox.
The tiny Yogi beside Magilla came from a movie combo, which I take it means with the popcorn and drink combos they release for family movies.
Fleegle and Bingo are musical plush from the late 90s that play 'The Tra La La Song (One Banana Two Banana)' when you squeeze their tummies. Snorky is from the same year, but he's a beanbag plush.
The larger plush (Huckleberry, Drooper and Snagglepuss) all seem to be from crane machines. Drooper was released at the time of the 2008 revival of The Banana Splits. I'm guessing Huck and Snag are from early 2000s, if not mid.
The rest of the plush are the set released as part of a kid's meal in the early 2000s. All 12 are present and accounted for!
Books
Both Banana Splits Annuals (yellow is from 1969, pink is from 1970), Huckleberry Hound Giant Story Book, Yogi's Gang 1977 Annual and Hanna-Barbera T.V. Favourites Bumper Yearbook.
Both of the Banana Splits annuals feature comics and stories focusing on the Splits. The yellow one however includes two stories of Shazzan, a comic of The Arabian Knights and a comic of The Three Musketeers. The latter two make sense as they were both part of The Banana Splits Adventure Hour. There were a couple of typos in which it's said Fleegle looks like a lion and Drooper's a real dog with his large bow tie. False! Drooper's the lion, Fleegle's the dog with the large bow tie.
The Huckleberry Hound Giant Story Book contains narratives of actual episodes; not just about Huck, but there are some based off Yogi Bear shorts, and some about Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks.
The 1977 annual of Yogi's Gang is filled with comics. The comics are individual stories of Huck, Yogi, Quick Draw, Magilla and Peter. Even though Snag appears on the cover, his comics don't appear.
The Bumper Yearbook is mainly comics, but contains some activities as well. The comics included are... Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Scooby Doo...Where Are You?, The Buford Files, The Flintstones, Top Cat (called Boss Cat), Inch High Private Eye, Atom Ant, Dinky Dog, The Funky Phantom, The Banana Splits and Magilla Gorilla.
Photos, DVDs, Figures and a VHS
The two photos are of The Banana Splits (of course). You can find plenty on eBay, though a lot are expensive. These ones were cheaper.
The DVDs are season one of The Banana Splits, The Man Called Flintstone and Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!. The VHS is The Banana Splits: Unpeeled. Unpeeled has the first three episodes. Dad got it for me years ago after one of his golfing holidays as an Easter present.
The figures I will list under close-up shots.
In this shot are Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear (x2), Boo Boo Bear, Ranger Smith, Cindy Bear, Snagglepuss, Chopper and Alfy Gator. Huck comes from the Marx Tinykins collections released back in the 60s. The rest are a set from Kinder Surprise.
In this one are Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, Snorky, Nose Marie and Cooler. The Banana Splits apparently were Kelloggs' cereal box prizes. Nose Marie and Cooler are part of a set of miniature figures (though miniature doesn't suit them entirely unless they released giant figures too). Even though Pound Puppies were owned by Tonka, I included these two because they were characters created for the Hanna-Barbera special and series. (And if the Smurfs cartoons can be considered under Hanna-Barbera even if Peyo was the original creator, then why can't I count these pups?)
So, there we go! That's my collection....so far anyway. I do plan on expanding it. Of course I am awaiting the arrival of the Yo Yogi! figures of Yogi, Boo Boo and Huck, and still seeking out Snag and Cindy in the same make (if unable to find, then I will just get the wind-up walkers since I know for sure those exist!). I plan on getting a plush of Doggie Daddy so Augie can be with his dear, old dad again. I also decided to cave and get the salt and pepper shaker set of Huck and Snag since it's cute and features two of my fave characters together. And of course, DVDs will be added too, I have to get the movies and series! Well, what I can anyway...
So, yep. I've always been a fan of Hanna-Barbera series, even if I wasn't as vocal. I was a H-B kid before introduced to Disney! Most of my cartoon videos were Banana Splits, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Snagglepuss, Wally Gator, Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har, the H-B Abbott and Costello cartoons, the H-B Pound Puppies, H-B Smurfs, The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry...
Okay. Mail will be a little steadier next week, but still not as much as the last few weeks. Oh well. I'll at least post about those three figures once they arrive.
