Hey there, minna-san! How are you? Good? I hope so...
Good news! My tonsils have ceased swelling so I don't need them out! The only problem now is my larynx, but it can be helped with hot drinks and steam in the shower, so I'm almost at 100%. I'm back at my course, but due to personal issues (depression has returned and resulted in me seeking help) I am permitted to only attend half the day until I've got myself back together. To avoid falling behind, I'm doing what I can at home, and what I need to do on the internet at the course location.
Also, my laptop is finally getting repaired AND they're gonna keep my stuff on there, so no worries about losing my music, videos and random stories!!
Okay, one more thing to go on about before the two reviews...TRACEY WAS IN THE OP AND ED SEQUENCES OF THE NEWEST SEASON OF POKEMON!!! There's hope he'll have a speaking role soon enough as Ash and crew are on their way to Kanto! But, Cilan and Iris are likely leaving soon...please at least let them hang around long enough to visit Oak's lab and meet Tracey...I WANT CILAN TO MEET TRACEY!!! Maybe then, my dream of Cilan and Tracey bonding over their observation skills and Iris sighing in the background will come true! (Someone on Tumblr even said that my dream is now canon unless proven otherwise XD)
Okay, the reviews! I finished Shirokuma Cafe and AMNESIA this week (and started watching UtaPuri 2 (LOVE IT!!!)), so here they are!
Shirokuma Cafe
Cast
Shirokuma - Sakurai Takahiro
Panda - Fukuyama Jun
Penguin - Kamiya Hiroshi
Sasako - Endo Aya
Grizzly - Nakamura Yuuichi
Joukin Panda - Konishi Katsuyuki
Handa - Hatano Wataru
Llama - Ono Daisuke
Panda Mama - Morikawa Toshiyuki
Mei Mei - Hanazawa Kana
Hayashi 'Rin Rin' Rintarou - Kuwashima Tokuyoshi
Sloth - Taniyama Kisho
Why did I watch it?: The series had been showing on my tumblr dashboard and when I looked up tags concerning OnoD and Taniyama Kisho. Curiosity got the best of me, so I looked up clips and more information. The clips I saw on youtube made me laugh, so I thought I'd check it out. After 25 episodes, I knew I wanted to see the rest!
Fave character?: Fave animal is Llama. He's a very kind and gentle animal, who unfortunately gets overlooked at the zoo because his area is right next to the giraffes. Plus, he has the uncanny ability of telling apart Penko and her sisters (there's now 14 all together!!). Fave human is Sasako, the main female of the series. She's a hardworking person who is very helpful to Sloth (she helps him clean his house and take him shopping). She's also very patient with the insanity that Shirokuma, Panda and Penguin bring (though, she herself can be a magnet for strange things).
Least fave character?: Panda rated lowest for the animals, mainly because of his usual jerkiness towards Penguin. He has his good moments to, so I don't hate him. Then, my least fave human is Rin Rin. He's a creepy stalker of Panda's. Again, don't hate as he has his good moments too.
Fave pairing?: Handa x Sasako. I wish they actually got together in the final episode...
Least fave pairing?: Don't have any...
Funniest moments?: The series is packed with them! There are so many that I can't remember most off the top of my head! But, Shirokuma + Grizzly = Frustrated Grizzly because Shirokuma tends to fool around. When they went shopping so Grizzly could get the perfect pillow for hibernation (which kept being disturbed by his best friend Shirokuma), Shirokuma was acting like a kid the whole time! XD But, then when you add Panda and Penguin to the mix...insanity!
Also, when Grizzly's mum went to visit. She called Grizzly "Guri-chan" which got Shirokuma, Panda, Penguin and Sasako to do so as well! He allowed it with them eventually, but when Black Caiman addressed him as such, he yelled at him and told him not to call him that!
Saddest moments?: EPISODE 44. The whole episode was a tearjerker! Joukin Panda was being transferred to Singapore, so he tried fitting in as much fun with Panda as he could before he left, all without telling Panda. Panda found out by Handa giving him a letter that Joukin had written, but didn't read it until after work. When he saw someone handing out tissue packets (which reminded him of Joukin because of his part-time job), he just collapsed in the middle of the street and broke down.
And then, when he's pushing himself at work until the new panda comes in, he's fast asleep when couples visit his area. One guy comments that Panda's being boring, resulting in Penguin telling him off. That also counts as a sweet moment. (BTW - This was the V Day episode!)
Sweetest moments?: Anytime Shirokuma and Grizzly expressed their friendship, especially childhood flashbacks! Also, when Penguin came to Panda's defense in episode 44. Oh, and when Sloth decided to try working in the cafe so he could earn enough money to take Sasako out to dinner to say thank you for all she'd done to help him. Can't forget Tiger supporting Wolf when he applied for a job at Donkey's bakery (he got it!)
Final thoughts?: This series went for 50 episodes! Fifty! And I loved each and every one of them! There were episodes filled with hilarity, episodes filled with fond friendships, and then there was episode 44. But, each one managed to touch me one way or another, whether it was a heartwarming scene (like Grizzly and Shirokuma as cubs cuddled together while they napped), much needed laughs or episode 44.
AMNESIA
Cast
Heroine - Nazuka Kaori
Orion - Igarashi Hiromi
Shin - Kakihara Tetsuya
Toma - Hino Satoshi
Ikki - Taniyama Kisho
Kent - Ishida Akira
Ukyo - Miyata Kouki
Why did I watch it?: A while ago,
shiroi_ume introduced me to the AMNESIA game made by Otomate. She shared some of the character information and such with me, and I joined her in fangirling as I found myself appreciating the characters. When I heard the anime was being released, I knew I had to see it!
Fave character?: Ikki, Heroine, Kent and Orion. Ikki because his feelings for Heroine are sincere, Heroine because she's such a cutie, Kent because his awkward ways are adorable and Orion because he was such a supportive fairy to Heroine throughout her trials.
Least fave character?: Ikki's fangirls. Three especially caused trouble for Heroine. Gotta say I was glad when Ikki told them off!
Fave pairing?: Ukyo x Heroine. After everything they went through, they deserve to be together.
Least fave pairing?: I don't mind any of the guys with her, to be honest, so no real least fave pairings here! Well, except for shounen-ai pairings, I don't ship the guys with each other in this one!
Funniest moments?: Kent's longwinded way of asking Heroine if she broke a glass, Kent and Orion's indirect conversation (including Heroine's drawing of Orion).
Saddest moments?: Ukyo dying. Even if he's at peace with it because Heroine got to live, and that time, he chose his death so he didn't feel like he was suffering.
Sweetest moments?: Kent agreeing to go to the festival with Heroine, despite it not being his favourite thing to do. He liked it in the end.
BEST MOMENT: In Toma's story, while Heroine is in hospital after everything, Ikki, Rika and the three fangirls visit her. Ikki and Rika tell the three to apologise for being so horrible to Heroine, and when one of them says "it's because she got close to Ikki-sama...", Ikki said this...
Ikki: Does this mean you're going to chase away everyone who gets close to me? Have your eyes clouded so much that you can't tell the difference between love and friendship?
(In Toma's story, Ikki was a supportive friend who encouraged Heroine to confess her feelings to him)
Final thoughts?: They still had her die at the end of each story so she could move to the next. I was wondering if they'd do that. In the end, each death caused her to wake up in a new world (there are 5 - Heart, Diamond, Club, Spade and Joker) where each of the guys is her boyfriend (or has feelings for her that she returns). The ending of the final episode had her standing before 5 different entrances to worlds, so I'm wondering if there's alternate endings for each (I wanna see Ukyo's...). Anyway, I did enjoy this series as well, and if they do make more series considering the games have sequels...well, I look forward to them.
That's it for now, minna-san! Ja ne!
EDIT: NANAMI HARUKA HAS A CHARACTER SINGLE THIS SEASON!!! AS IF HEARING HER SING MAIGO NO KOKORO IN AN EPISODE (FULL VERSION ON BONUS OST) WASN'T ENOUGH!!! SHE HAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND I AM THRILLED SHE HAS CHARACTER SONGS TOO!!!
