Here's Another Meme!!

Nov 07, 2011 12:13

Hey there, minna-san! How are you? Good? I hope so...

Time to do another meme! I got this one from misskalloway...

Comment with your favourite giant robot, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ. Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

I was given Gundam SEED, Angelique, Kiddy Grade, Seiyuu (XD) and Weiss Kreuz...

Gundam SEED
I have to admit I wasn't all that into the Gundam series when I'd first heard of this, though I didn't mind Gundam Wing half the time. It was partly thanks to seiyuu that I decided to check it out. See, I had looked up other roles done by Seki Tomokazu, Ishida Akira and Shindou Naomi, and found out they were all in Gundam SEED. Looked up a cast list and also saw Hoshi Souichirou and Sasanuma Akira. I decided it wouldn't hurt to watch it.
I started with the dub as it aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. But, I didn't mind it too much, I like Matt Hill, Sam Vincent and Chantal Strand. The series had me hooked, to be honest. I would sit on the edge of my seat whenever they engaged in battle, and if I wasn't going to wake anyone up, I'd even scream out for everyone to look out, cry out whenever one of my fave characters got hit...
In the end, I liked a lot of characters! Athrun, Kira, Cagalli, Lacus, Yzak, Dearka, Nicol (yep, I cried...), Mwu, Murrue, Miriallia... Really, the only ones I didn't like were Muruta, Rau, Patrick and Flay.
I have seen the series subbed as well, and I love the performances of the Japanese cast! I was almost crying during the scene when Athrun tells Cagalli he'd killed Kira as he's breaking down when I saw it dubbed. But, in Japanese, I had to pause it to calm myself down after the scene ended.
Half of the reason I watch the series is because it's mostly kids who are fighting to make a difference. There are racial issues that had led to the start of the war, and it shows how sad the world can be when we only consider differences, not that we're unique and yet the same. Part of the reason, as listed above is because of the cast. They all perform their roles in a believable manner. Another part is the animation. They worked hard to design the mobile suits, and the characters all look wonderful! Any bishounen really do look like bishounen and the girls can be so cute!!

Angelique
A few years ago, I had gotten the internet at home and had developed an interest in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de. As I looked on LJ comms like angemedia, I kept learning about the series Angelique. Eventually, I decided to have a look at what I could about it, including cast list. Some names really stood out...Seki Toshihiko, Yuuki Hiro and Koyasu Takehito especially. So, I first heard character songs.
It was about that same time I was first watching Get Backers, so hearing Tobita Nobuo sing in such a sweet tone compared to Akabane had me very intrigued with his voice. Lumiale quickly became one of my favourite characters after learning more about him.
The first form of anime I'd been able to see, thanks to being on dial-up at that time was the chibi omakes from Koisuru Tenshi Angelique. I was getting more and more drawn in, and started to love all of the characters (though Clavis intimidated me a little at first, he quickly grew on me).
I saw the OVAs thanks to torrents and got to know more about the heroines of the series. My fave heroine? Hmm...I think it would be...either Angelique Collet or Rachel. I had also seen Koisuru Tenshi when staying at my cousin's house for a week, and I know a lot of people say the animation sucks. I never saw anything wrong with it. In fact, as long as I find myself interested in the plot (and I was), the animation doesn't matter.

Kiddy Grade
I think it may have been early last year when I first hired the DVDs after seeing the cast list (I knew I'd be checking it out after seeing Ishida Akira and Tobita Nobuo on the list) and I enjoyed it. I knew I wanted to see more, so I'd requested it for my birthday or for Christmas last year, got it for Christmas from my grandfather. I wouldn't stop watching it when I'd had free time and finished the series very quickly (subbed, of course).
For a while, my fave pair has been Sinistra and Dextera, and yep, I ship them! I still can't get over Sinistra looking similar to Lumiale...  I liked most pairs really, but those two, plus Lumiere and Eclair as well as the Tweedle-twins were my faves. My fave male character is Sinistra and my fave female character is Tweedledee, she's so awesome!!
I saw Kiddy Girl-and as well, and I did mourn the fact the Lumiere, Eclair, Sinistra and Dextera were missing (later, I found they'd also had Viola and Cesario missing!!). I was thankful that the Tweedle-twins, and Un-Ou and A-Ou were still present at least. I'd also collected all of the character songs for that series (TOBITA NOBUO HAD TWO SONGS!!) and while I don't mind the new characters getting some, I wish they'd had some for the other characters as well...I know, Ishida Akira doesn't sing, so Un-Ou wouldn't be...but couldn't they have had A-Ou sing while Un-Ou says some things through it? They did that with Shade and Torch's songs (Torch being voiced by Nakai Kazuya). I want a song by Tweedledee and Tweedledum! (I imagine Kuwatani Natsuko and Fukuyama Jun would sound alright together)

Seiyuu
I love my seiyuu. Male and female. Started with a love for a certain Pokemon watcher voiced by Seki Tomokazu and snowballed through the years as I saw more and more anime series in Japanese. (It's pretty clear how much I love my seiyuu by just reading back and seeing seiyuu had mostly been part of my commentary XD)

Weiss Kreuz
It was partly thanks to Saiyuki I'd become curious about this series, and partly thanks to the Anime Tenchou song Double Dear by all eight of the main seiyuu. I eventually found a way to see it thanks to getting a boxset of it in Melbourne. I watched it subbed, of course, I love the Japanese cast. Koyasu Takehito as Aya, after hearing him as Olivie is a hilarious comparison. Seki Tomokazu as Ken amounts to a lot of squee from me. Miki Shinichirou as Youji...well, I'd first heard him as Yorihisa, Ensui and Kojirou/James so hearing him as a playboy was a refreshing change. Finally, Yuuki Hiro as Omi...SO CUTE!!! While Jamie McGonnigal makes Omi sound more his age, I still prefer Yuuki as him!
The songs by the group are very catchy, and I'm often humming Velvet Underworld, Beautiful Alone or It's Too Late when I walk around the house after having a Weiss fix. My fave songs aren't in the series, they're Love of My Life, No Surrender, New Song and Meguriaeta Koto.
My fave character is Omi, though I like all of Weiss and most of the other characters (yep, even Schwarz and Schrient). I don't like Takatori Reiji or any of the dark beasts that had been assassinated by them, they were real sickos! My fave pairing is Ken x Omi, and I also like Youji x Aya, Sakura x Aya-chan and Nagi x Tot. In Gluhen, Sena grew on me pretty quickly, and as for Side B, I liked Michel most.
I can and will write crossovers of Saiyuki and Weiss Kreuz, whether they are short drabbles of them interacting with each other or the crossover carol parodies I'd done over the years. I will also add to the crack fanworks with fanfiction and parodies. My Weiss only parody is Florists and Assassins, to the tune of Marukaite Chikyuu. I'll eventually make a video with the clip of the song and share it...

That's it for now, minna-san! Ja ne!
