Hey there, minna-san, me again!
I completed Yami no Matsuei! I enjoyed it! Even though it took me so frickin' long to get all 13 episodes, I still enjoyed it! (Now to get the manga...)
Here's what I did and didn't like by arc...
The Nagasaki File
Yay!
- Tsuzuki!!
- How we met Hisoka...seriously, what better way to meet your shinigami partner than to have him hold a gun against your back and accuse you of being a vampire!
- Hisoka and Tsuzuki's fight over food! XD
- Watari's "Jason-kun" invention! I still laugh at what name he chose for it! XDDD
- Suzaku!!
Boo! Hiss!
- Muraki!! Creepy fucker!
- Muraki capturing Hisoka!
- Learning it was due to Muraki that Hisoka's dead...sure that means that he wouldn't have become Tsu-chan's partner if he were alive, but still...
The Devil's Trill
Yay!
- WATARI~~~~~!!!!! He has a larger role in this arc!!
- The friendship between Hijiri and Kazusa!
- Tsuzuki proving the glasses really were just for show, he could see better without them! XD
- Lack of Muraki! XD
- Saagatanasu's contract seal was in Kazusa's father's eye, later in Hijiri's after the transplant. *is having Kuroshitsuji flashbacks*
- Ooh! The song The Devil's Trill!
- Learning how bad at cooking Tsu-chan is!
- Suzaku and Byakko together!!
Boo! Hiss!
- Saagatanasu possessing Tsuzuki!
- Kazusa died!! T-T
- The rich kid who set fire to the violins! Bastard!!
King Of Swords
Yay!
- It takes place on a cruise liner!
- Tsubaki-hime!
- Use of tarot cards being left behind at the scene of each murder.
- Muraki's dead!
Boo! Hiss!
- Nope, my mistake, he's still alive! DX
- And fatally wounded Tsubaki-hime! You bastard!!
- Hisoka being asked to kill Tsubaki-hime by Tsubaki-hime...T-T
The Kyoto File
Yay!
- MORE WATARI!!!
- Even Tatsumi gets a much larger role in this arc!
- Oriya may have been Muraki's friend, but I liked him, he was loyal to the end
- When Hisoka starts doubting they can save Tsuzuki, it's Tatsumi who tells him that he'll never leave if they remember him, which gives Hisoka the push he needs to believe they CAN and WILL save Tsuzuki!
Boo! Hiss!
- Muraki's back and with a vengeance! No, I mean that literally...
- ...he wants to kill his half-brother, and in order to do that, he needs to give him a body...
- Tsu-chan was Muraki's grandfather's patient when he was alive!
- Tsu-chan's suicide attempt...T-T I was almost crying then (the cat disrupted me,otherwise, I would've been bawling!)
- Muraki telling Mariko that it's because she and her friend Maki saw a shinigami that Maki was killed, and she was next...poor girl never got to understand that our four shinigami were in fact trying to PROTECT her!!
Overall...
- I'm glad I actually got to see Watari in more than just cameos. Granted the series focuses on Tsuzuki and Hisoka (and to a lesser extent...lesser meaning I don't give a shit...Muraki), but still they shouldn't ignore others important to the cast. And I REALLY wish they had included a couple of his potions...the series wasn't long enough to include that insanity, I suppose...maybe they should've made a Watari's Potions omake or something for the end of each episode...but that might spoil the mood created...ugh...I wanted to see Watari's potions! I wouldn't have even known he made them if I hadn't read about him...
- I never even shouted out "what a creepy fucker!" about Muraki until I saw what he wanted to do with Saki. But, boy, was it a good thing I was home alone when I did!
- The anime grasped at least a little of how Tatsumi is a penny-pincher, that's also something they should've expanded on too.
- I noticed when I looked at Hisoka from different angles, he seemed to resemble Ken or Omi or even a mix of both of them...those two being from Weiss Kreuz.
- Fantastic cast, all performed their roles well. (I'm just seriously hoping I don't start imagining Muraki when I hear Julious (Angelique) as they're voiced by the same seiyuu. The inaccurate Kansei accent Watari had was endearing to me, and is the first time I'd ever heard SekiToshi do that accent, so it was quite an experience. Not quite familiar with Hisoka's seiyuu, but she wasn't too bad either. Miki's performance during Tsuzuki's especially emotional moments made my heart wrench, whenever he delivers that kind of performance with any of his characters, I feel as if I'm gonna cry, it's just too real!
There we go! Watari is still my fave closely followed by Tsuzuki. In regards to pairings, I like Tsuzuki x Hisoka, Tatsumi x Watari and even Tsuzuki x Watari (some of the fics for that pairing can be either completely heart-wrenching, depending on what arc it's based on (Kyoto-arc fics are common and do make me wanna cry) or can be full of silly, fluffy and genki cuteness that they seem to represent!). Do NOT like Muraki x Tsuzuki, though I don't mind reading Muraki x Oriya...mainly if it's included in a fic of one of the aforementioned pairings.
That's it for now, minna-san! Ja ne!
