i hear those sleigh bells

Dec 11, 2005 10:20

so its cold and crisp outside and i have two layers of shirts on to stay warm
i have to stay under covers or curled up because we're all too broke to have the heater on

im really psyched about the christmas dinner party this year, i really think it gets to be a nice occasion every year... all of us getting together since we havent seen eachother in so long
i wonder for how many years we can keep it going like that
you know...
once we all get real jobs and may have to move and what not
im excited about christmas shopping just not what its gonna cost me, especially since i want this tat done by friday
i can't WAIT to have a christmas tree around with some christmas music

and not to sound like an old lady but i cant wait til i have a real home (not a rented one) where i can have a tree and decorations and the christmas feel around all the time
because the only feel i got going is the stress of finals

so, remember when...
its only 5 in the morning and you would spring out of bed because good ol st nick had surely taken a visit under your christmas tree. you run to your bedroom door and slowly open it so that the creaking it made wasnt as intense in the perfectly silent jolly house. darting down the hallway making a sliding home under the tree. you grab and shake, grab and shake, grab and shake... soon your pile is HUGE. all of toys r us seemed to be in your lap. tearing away at the paper and making the only peep in the house.. eyes lighting up to each and every color on your brand new box of legos and little people. you cant control your smiles and the tags from santa seem endless. you stay up for a good 2 more hours just looking and setting up your great new toys....
15 years later
you're woken up by the noise of kids getting to the tree first and you finally drag ass out of bed by noon cause last night was a doosey and the booze is still on your breath... you wake up and stumble to the kitchen to nod to the other adults and snag a cup of the coffee everyone is drinking in silence. now you sit around playing the waiting game for the rest of the family to arrive 2 hours late as usual to open gifts and exchange gifts that you carefully budgeted for. as soon as the blood gets flowing and some christmas tunes are playing the spirit picks up and everyones laughing and eating agian like the night before. BUT no matter how old we all get and how routine the christmas holiday may seem, there is still and always will be that unexlicable spirit that rises up out of our souls that screams childhood.

i think this christmas im getting EVERYONE toys... just to bring out the kid again
im gonna fuck practicality and necessity and make christmas about legos and smiles again
or rather try my best to recreate that feeling for the 15 members of my family
theres nothing like playing and feeling like a kid again... with each gift ill have a card that states that the gift if given to bring smiles and careless enjoyment that can be shared....
or atleast im gonna sure as shit try ;)
