some days you realize you're just not at the top of your game. sometimes you just look through your entire 'address book' on your email account and scroll down all those names and there just isnt anyone there that you feel you can email for the kind of thing you feel like talking about. so many hooks and explanations and excuses that you need to ( Read more... )

You still use livejournal? anonymous September 14 2006, 18:12:09 UTC
Bryna. It's Paulette. I'm using my brother's computer and I saw your screen name and I clicked on your link. Are you the last person on earth who still has an active livejournal and doesn't use myspace? ;)

I would take a simple email from you without any excuses/explanations. I hate that shit.

On to your ranting about work and money (here come the words from the die-hard gleam-of-sunshine optimist that everyone wants to stab). Personally, I don't have that simple "x hours of work=x$." Yeah, I put tons and tons of hours into my work--more than I have to, because I get paid a fixed salary. Yeah, it's hard. But I get more than money in return. I get oppurtunity. I WANT to work extra to help my team make more money. I want to learn about the business and teach about photography. I like to improve and look forward to a bonus or a raise or a promotion. My job is so much MORE than a means of survival, and I think everyone's career should be. If you look at it as something you HAVE to do to survive and nothing more, you're inevitably miserable. Yeah, I get really stressed out at times. But I don't think I could stand to live with constant ease. I'm realizing more and more that I like to be challenged. Obviously you're the same way; you excel in an intense physical art that requires real effort and discipline. Approach your job the same way. Maybe it's too easy for you and you need to move on, and prove to your boss (if you have one) that you're ready to do so. Or maybe you need to look into another path, something more fulfilling that you'll enjoy putting your life focus on.

"I dunno." :) Miss you hun. Hope my thoughts were helpful or at least provoking.
