So, I was late to enter the IStanduary challenge, and I also didn't follow the directions to have a song title in my title, but I offer it to my friends to read. I am trying to get better, so helpful input is always appreciated.
If no one thinks it sucks royally, I might offer it up to the c_l or t3w for general viewing. No smut, just mood and emotions. Here goes:
The Package by bsofthewest Rated G
She walked into the marble lobby with a confident stride. The sunlight reflecting off the surfaces seemed dull in comparison to her radiance. She was blond and vibrant, a smile across her perfect face. She thanked the doorman and strode up to the front desk.
"Any mail today, Tony?"
"Here you go Ms. C, and oh, there is also a small package."
"Thank you so much. I love getting packages!", she replied excitedly as she took the items and lazily glanced over them while she sashayed to the elevator. Her gait slowed, as she recognized the rounded flowing handwriting on the brown cardboard box.
Stuffing the letters into her open purse, she eased open the edge of the box. Inside were a folded cream colored note card and a CD with an almost too pretty face staring back at her.
As the elevator doors opened, her hands were trembling and she found it hard to focus on the relatively simple task of walking the few feet to her door. Keys were found and entrance finally achieved. Doggie licks at her ankles brought her slightly to her senses. Putting her things on the table and grabbing the white fluff ball in her arms, she went straight to the sound system in the living room and placed the CD in its slot.
The shades were still drawn. The room was dark, except for the ceiling light reflecting directly down on the couch. There was a quiet in the place that gave sanctuary to the hectic day and world outside. With that void as her only support, she read the letter.
"My Dearest K - I wanted you to have this from me. There are moments from our lives reflected here. Only you will hear them - my inner most thoughts, ones we shared together and some I was too afraid to express. You know I think best with a pen in my hand. The good and the bad are here. You are my inner muse, no one else knows that. I only wish I were truly brave enough to tell the world. For now, until the next time we are together, may my voice sink into your soul. My love, D"
She listened to the music and wept, with only the little fluff ball's tongue giving comfort as she licked the tears that fell to her cheeks.
The End
