I'm a lucky little beaver

No, I haven't found the legendary lesbian Madeleine True as I've walked these streets, but I am going to see the legendary Beebo Brinker in the East Village. Well, I am going to try, as today is the last show and there are only 72 seats in the house. I will report back to you all if I am successful.
As to successful....wow have I seen some good shows:
Spring Awakening lived up to it's hoopla. Those kids are something else. You know they don't have a Wednesday matinee, because a good percentage of the cast is still in fricking High School! Nothing more to say, but it was great.
Serious theater on Wednesday with Tom Stoppard's Rock'n' Roll and Cyrano De Bergerac. Jennifer Garner surprisingly competent. Kevin Klein as magical as always. Those Brits are in a lock for Stoppard's next Tony.
The menu for Thursday was the legendary Miss Eartha Kitt. 10 feet away and sizzling. She sang her signature songs and some poignant new ones. That woman is an idol for women everywhere. Tough as nails, but funny and smart. I hope I am as energetic at 82. I know I won't have any talent or her gorgeous figure. Damn!
So Friday I HAD to go see WICKED, disappointed that Stephanie was still away for that wedding of hers. I am a selfish bitch. Carole Shelley rocked the house that night. She was on fire for some reason. Fun as always.
Saturday was packed with fun...Curtains and Xanadu. Fluff to be sure, but the fluff the Bdwy stage needs to survive. Delights both, and I am glad I saw them.
All the theaters have been packed and happy patrons are all over. This was good. The threatened strike was never called. I don't know what the deal is with that. The Broadway Equity fights Aids fund raiser was in full swing so there was the added treat of hearing each show encourage the audience to give to the worthy cause. Mary Testa of Xanadu was hands down the BEST and deserves a Tony for her efforts. She is a treasure along with Deborah Monk! Gotta go, only 22 hours left in this paradise!!!
