BSofthewest in the east - Kendra report

Oct 22, 2007 12:15

So, you must know that I am a pure, basic chenzel lover. All those permutations that get tossed into the mix are fun, but I remain focused on the original coupling. Then again, there has been so much written about Kendra that I made it a priority while here in NYC, to get tickets for The Receptionist. Kendra's first vehicle after leaving "the show" on the 7th. Here is my report...
The theater, NY City Center Stage, is quite intimate (200 or so). I had Row A Seat 1. Perfect, as I was 10 feet away from K most of the evening. No mikes, it was as thought I was in the room with them. This is a short story sort of presentation. Not exactly a one act play, but 1 1/2 hours in total. The play has a shocking twist, so I will not give any plot; just know that she is cute, natural and quite fine (I'm referring to her acting talents, although being close enough to see her panty line against her dark gray skirt was discomforting). She does a touch of cutsie shtick, leg kicks and mugging, but it is within character. It was nice to see her doing pure acting and she did a fine job, even cried. Joe M cast her with great success. I liked that there was an intelligence behind her character that she portrayed well. I'm glad I saw it. I think it will get reviewed well, but it is sooooo short.
More to see ......reports to follow.
