minus half, II

after taking a xani the night before, i woke in a sluggish haze via my mobile ringing around eight-thirty am saturday morning. an individual at work with a question, but fortunately i was able to give an answer that didn't take too much cognitive effort. not able to go back to sleep, i started my saturday morning ritual of coffee and browsing nytimes business articles, followed by clipping my hair and a hot shower. the sluggish haze slowly dissipating as the morning progressed and almost absent by my 12 noon walk to a furniture store down the street. i purchased a few decorative items for my place, including obtaining pricing and options for a new platform bed and dresser set. (like the low income recent college graduate i yearn to be sometimes, at least in style, i still sleep upon a single mattress on my concrete floor).

i drove to oakhurst to browse art at the seen gallery. i ended up purchasing two photographs by a local artist, items picked for my bedroom decor, actions correlating to pricing the platform bed and dresser. (i'm sure i'll post pictures when it's all together). after chatting with the gallery's proprietor and chosing the frame for the works, i walked outside and sat on a bench and made numerous calls to friends for more talk, including a call to john who's a new father, as of last thursday night. the weather was blissful and sunny, and this gave me a euphoric high that i hadn't felt in months. i received my sunlight and happiness. on the drive back to decatur, i saw heidi and her new russian hubbie, and this unexpected glimpse of friends seemed to perpetuate my euphoric feeling. we waved to each other.

later, after my return home, the sluggish feeling returned, almost like a second xani timed release fifteen hours after the original dose. nonetheless, i grabbed my book and walked to taqueria de sol for fish tacos and margaritas. i read my book at the bar and finished two margaritas, then walked home. i curled up on my love seat with my window open, with music playing (cat power), with ruminations of how unproductive and relaxing the saturday was, and quickly went to sleep.
