or, The Fortunate Return of the Semi-Charmed Life

Well, karma finally caught up with me. Why, I can't say for sure. Whether it be making it through the last couple trying weeks at work without stabbing someone with a pencil, or successfully pulling off a surprise 50th birthday party for my mom, taking care of grandma last weekend or dealing with other recent difficulties while remaing cool as a cucumber...I can't be certain. But it's back. For good, I hope. Kicked off by the wonderful weather this week...two topless days in a row and counting!

Tonight was Eve 6 at the DoubleDoor. $7 tickets for three bands. That alone was worth the trip into the city on a school night.

Then, since Jameson Irish Whiskey was a sponsor, we all got free Jameson drink tokens. Three bands and a free drink for $7. Not bad at all.

Then, my visitor badge (which we all got at the door) turned out to be one of thirty winning VIP badges, meaning not only that one free drink, but free drinks all night plus seating in the VIP lounge should we so choose to venture away from the stage, in addition to meeting the bands after the shows.

Again, not bad for a $7 ticket!

Then, while talking to John something-or-other (the first opener and close personal friend of Eve 6 band members), he apparently liked something I said about business contacts and album covers and gave me a free CD, which everybody else had to pay for downstairs. Then I said Hey to the drummer from E6, and we took off, because one friend had to be at work at 6:30 and another has some big presentation in the morning.

I, on the other hand, was told by Caroline to come in late because she knew the show didn't start until after 9 and it would be a late-ish night. Little did she know we'd be hanging with the boys for a while after the gig. She'll be pleasantly surprised when I show up at a semi-decent time tomorrow morning with some fun stories to tell.

ugh...tomorrow morning. No good.

But tomorrow night should be coffeehouse tunes, followed by a play Saturday night, a birthday lunch and/or dinner Sunday, another concert Monday night and maybe Wednesday, followed by a short jaunt to Wisco for the weekend.

Plus Halloween's coming and the costume ideas are percolating...and I just love Halloween anyway because I'm still a big stupid kid!

October is yummy
