Title: Reunion Author: bsgroxmysox Rating: K Word Count: 300 A/N: Missing reunion scene from Blood on the Scales Written for the Cut Scene drabble challenge at ar_drabbles
I really like how you caught that wonderfully frustrating part about Laura's character:
“I thought you were dead.”
“I know.” The break in his usually husky voice betrayed the emotion he was feeling at seeing her like this.
“I never want to feel like that again, Bill.”
He didn’t talk about how this was what he was facing every day and that soon someone would be telling him about her death, that he would be facing the prospect of the rest of his life without her beside him.
I'm sure Laura was pretty comfortable with the knowledge that she would never be alone again-- she had Bill. Then Zarek DARES to kill him first! Someone's gonna pay!
“About time.” Despite the solemn task he was about to carry out, he smiled.
Heh. And girlfriend will always have the last word, even if the right moment doesn't come up immediately.
Wonderful scene and I think one of the hardest to write. You've done it very well. This is tender and beautiful and really fits into the moments after you see them in the hallway. I like Bill saying "I love you" here too, a very good spot for it, since she'd just shouted hers all over the ships more or less. Nice work! I enjoyed it very much.
Thank you very much! Ya I thought this would be an ok scene to write, but oh how wrong I was! LOL. People like it though so I can breathe a sigh of relief :)
I thought about doing a drabble for this scene. Even started writing it. Somehow I couldn't get it to gel, and I thought it was because their reunion in the show was so perfect for me. The way she pats him as if to check he's real, her whimper.
But, you've really done this scene justice.
Of course Bill would have to return to CIC. And of course she understands. She has lived for a long time with her responsibilities and it was great to see her ignore them all in this ep and just follow her instincts to save her love.
And I love the 'I love you, about time' thing in this drabble.
I have to agree, even though I did just write this drabble, that their reunion was so great! All down to the great acting style of Ms. McDonnell and Mr. Olmos, as usual!
He didn’t talk about how this was what he was facing every day and that soon someone would be telling him about her death, that he would be facing the prospect of the rest of his life without her beside him.
And this just makes it all the more heartbreaking:
Instead he pulled her tighter to him and murmured promises neither of them could keep.
I always wondered whether Bill would have ever spoken about how sad the prospect of her death made him, I figure he probably wouldn't. Thats just the kind of guy he is, makes me love him even more!
