Oh this is so wonderfully sweet and sad! Billy trying to rationalize why she said 'no' and hoping it's not about him is spot on is spot on, and just tragic in its innocence. And this That drink will have to be for another day; he really can’t stand being in this bar for one moment longer. Until shots ring out, forcing him to stay. - gut-wrenching and perfect. Thank you for writing such a lovely piece! I love getting to see Billy's thoughts and heartbreak here.
