Liked this look into Kat's head-space and the abbreviated interactions with the others. I don't think we saw enough of Kat to flesh out the character as anything other than a foil for Starbuck, so this really works well.

You really got across the sensory details throughout, scoring her experiences here on both the physical as well as the emotional level. Really well done!

Something BSG always did well was to give just enough hints that we could flesh out the characters ourselves. I'm glad the "flesh" I gave Kat worked for you. Thanks for reading and commenting! :)

Vivid and heartbreaking. I love what you did with the Kat and HotDog relationship and her POV in sickbay felt painfully real.

This moment is ouchy and great:
Forgetting herself for just a moment, she tries to sit up, which is a mistake. The pain alone nearly blinds her and the heart monitor goes wild, bringing both Cottle and Ishay at a run. Poor Maggie backs away from the bedside, hands held out from her sides.

“Gods. I didn’t do anything. I swear!” she protests.

“Not your fault,” Cottle tells her, “but get the frak out of the way.”

Also: See that you keep that promise or I’ll frakkin’ haunt your ass.

You know, that whole scene with Racetrack was supposed to be entirely different than what came out. Heh. It's one of my favorites. :P

Ooooooh my goodness, it's my wee baby fanfic all grown up and awesome! I was on, what, maybe my second month of fic-writing when I wrote "Goodnight, Kat" and it shows a bit. Such a pleasure to see it through someone else's eyes.

So... *sob* You made sure Hot Dog visited! I had intended that, but I love actually reading their final conversation. And Lee! Admitting that she had annoyed him! It's lovely that he's there, even though she can't really respond.

Your descriptions of the radiation sickness and its effects are so vivid.

Gah, the ending is just gorgeously sad. Beautiful work.

I'm so glad you liked it. I loved Goodnight, Kat the first time I read it, and when lls_mutant asked me if I could remix a fic of yours, it just spoke to me. It's been a while since a fic wrote itself, and that wouldn't have happened if you hadn't written such a beautiful fic yourself.

(I've kinda shipped Kat/Hot Dog since I wrote them kinda flirting in Letting Go.)
