Wow, I loved that moment when Racetrack read out the list of the dead, and how it ended with Zarek. What a great moment. And a good comparison to the Starbuck moment. I'd forgotten about that scene, so powerful. And it's interesting that Racetrack makes the comparison, given how much she must have hated what Starbuck had become. It's not unlike how she feels about Adama, maybe?

Oh, and I love the moment where Racetrack makes the connection that she had been much better fed than others because she was a pilot, and watching her push that away from her consciousness was fascinating.

I almost felt a little tear when Hoshi mentioned that picture of Gaeta. I'd forgotten that detail from my story, and I saw all over again exactly what picture it was in my mind, too. :) I love that you stuck that tiny detail in. And of course Hoshi liked remembering him that way, aw.

And gah, what an ending! I forgot until I got to the beginning of the last paragraph that after all that, she was going to die anyway, which killed me. So I loved the way you pulled back for the last paragraph with an almost omniscient POV. It was exactly the right kind of distance I needed for her death to seem okay, and even meaningful, to her anyway, which you story makes clear is what really mattered.

Such hard work this must have been. Thank you SO MUCH. I love it.

I loved that moment with the photo in the original so, so much; I may or may not have squealed with glee when I figured out a way to be able to work it into this fic. ;) Thank you so very, very much for writing such a lovely story to remix. Like I said in the author notes, one of my biggest challenges writing this was every time I went back to "Aftermath" to check on a detail, I couldn't help but read a big chunk of it over again, and it never failed to make me weepy. You know I love Gaeta, but I loved how your fic gave Hoshi his own story, his own dignity, and his own hope at the end. I tried to give Racetrack at least a little bit of that, too, so I'm very, very happy you enjoyed it.

Thanks again so very, very much!!
