Mmmm. I like the expanded perspective here, threading the rest of the cast through the story of Kara and Lee. Some favorite lines:

There's a smear of lipstick in the corner of her mouth where it doesn't belong and she's not sure how to make it go away. She's better at maintaining a Viper.

Double shifts and engine grease and knowing you're already dead cannot be made away. But Apollo's eyes are glued to the parts of her body that aren't made to fight

The contrasts between Sharon on Cloud 9 and Sharon on Caprica are great. Nice job!

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it, particularly the bits about the Sharons, as I find them to be the most central part of the story in a way.

I like how you broadened the story to include all the other 'relationship/personality bluffs' going on at the time. Helo/Caprica!Eight and Ellen/Saul were particularly good.

And this: Sharon is dancing like the world has come loose, giggling when Gaeta twirls and twirls and twirls her around. She feels alive. For the first time since the destruction, she feels joyous and alive, like a real human being with dreams and with hope. She longs to always feel like that.

(and somewhere else, she will.) is just a killer ending.

Thanks! I really liked writing the bits about Saul and Ellen. They were a first, but they worked surprisingly well. It was a shame I didn't get to mention Adama and Roslin, but... they didn't bluff in that episode! At all! :D

*CHEERS FOR THIS VERSION*

You have taken a snapshot - not even a fic really - and broadened it to encompass so many other situations in canon where people are bluffing their way through. What a great idea! The two Sharons were my favorite, though I also have to admit having a soft spot for the Tighs. Lovely!

This line, in particular, struck me as poetry:

Apollo's eyes are glued to the parts of her body that aren't made to fight, even when he quirks his eyebrow and extends his arm to draw her onto the dance floor. And that would be enough, except-

“I clean up good sometimes, alright?”

It's still all a dare, is the thing.

Thank you for such a lovely remix! K :>D

Thank you! As I believe I said before, it was a lot of fun to tackle a fic that is so unlike anything I'd write. I was glad to get a chance to try my hand at the pairing, though the tropes you used are just not my cup of tea as a writer, and remixing it in a way I hoped you'd like was exactly the kind of challenge I had been looking for. I'm so glad that it worked.

You captured the duality of Kara--and the others--so very well throughout.

Yay, she chased Gauis off and Lee down!

She doesn't feel off balance now --only with Lee does she find her balance as Kara *two thumbs up*

Thank you very much! I'm so happy that there even were some shippers who liked the fic, since it's my first attempt at K/L.

This is wonderful! There's such a great tension here, which is impressive, when you consider that the story is mostly internal and doesn't really rely much on a conventional external plot. Kara is intriguing, the Tighs are a bit heartbreaking, Gaeta is sweet, and Zarek is sphinx-like, as usual, for all his tendency to seek the limelight.

The parts with Athena on Caprica also give the entire fic another layer of gravitas that I wasn't expecting at first. A great "a-ha" moment.

I particularly love this:

(Ellen Tigh tried to be someone of importance today, smiling into cameras too brightly while reminding herself that this is really all she ever wanted. Lt. Gaeta is trying to have a private life currently; he's muttering “frak it” to himself, closing his tech manual with a disgusted look to go and find the party. A man called Valance tried to be a murderer this day. He's dead now, and someone, somewhere tries to wash his blood off their sleeve in a bathroom smelling of vomit. It doesn't work, it never does. This is such a great ( ... )

Hee! You know I was wondering if the fact that you commented on this fic would give away that I wrote it. ;)

I'm happy that you like the fic and especially that you like the scene with Athena, as I consider it the central point of the story - the moment when things go from canon to the wish fulfillment that is partly canon and partly not.

I'm not sure anymore but I think the kudos for Kara threatening to break Baltar's fingers go to the original. The underwear shortage is all me though. :D

Thank you!
