What a fabulous remix of the original fic. Both so good and both so in tandem with each other.

I love how their thoughts coincide, collide and dance around each other in this story (much like they've been doing physically up to this point)

Loved this:

He remembers, even now, the first time he saw her on Galactica; despite taking an automatic dislike to the woman he'd seen as a tool of the government taking his ship away from him, his home, he'd given her a once-over. He'd done it to annoy her, perhaps. But it derailed.

And this:

I won't give her up.

Go Bill!

Thanks, hon! :) Funnily enough, in the sections you quoted I thought "wow, my style is showing kind of blatantly there, isn't it?" Did you think so? I mean, you're familiar enough with my writing that you might know. *grin* I'm really glad you like it.

I loved it and I had absolutely no idea that you'd written it when I posted my review.

Works for me :) I was just curious as to whether you would recognise my writing since you've beta-read for me before. I kind of like that you didn't. *grin* And I'm glad you liked it.

Lovely counterpoint to the original. There it was Laura who has grown, who's learned that the thing she craved before, space, can be too much, hurt too deep. Now it's Bill, not half as impassive or neutral as Laura thinks him to be, who has grown from thinking that space, Galactica, is everything and this officious bureaucrat is nothing to learning that this person he thought was taking everything away is actually giving everything to him.

He thought he knew her at first and tried to use that knowledge to annoy her, but now he really does know her, better than most, and is worried that she doesn't know him.

And through it all, he's introspective, becoming his own Carolanne, telling himself the truths he needs to hear to move forward.

I really like this, in tandem with the original. You've taken what's implied and brought it to the forefront nicely.

This is the first remix that I think I've read where I thought it fit completely with the original.

I really loved the thought of Bill giving Laura the once over during the decommissioning ceremony just to annoy her - then it backfiring on him, LOL.

This was incredibly sweet without throwing it in our face, if you know what I mean.
