I will always be a Baltar/Gaeta girl, but somehow, I've ended up with my last two major fics being about Gaeta/Hoshi. :) I'm so glad that they come across to you as a believable, loving couple.

Heh, I'm both. For me, Baltar/Gaeta and Gaeta/Hoshi are not mutually exclusive, because I can't ever put Baltar and Gaeta back together as more than friends after New Caprica, and I don't put Hoshi and Gaeta together as more than work acquaintances until after New Caprica. And especially because I now ship Hoshi/Narcho extremely hard, to the point where I had them almost get married back before the attacks, Hoshi still works :)

I remember reading a really great fic in another remix a year ago or so (the hiatusthon, I think) that did this as well.

I need to find this. I started really getting interested in the idea when I wrote "I'm No Superman" for the LGBTfest, and had two OCs that were 16 and orphaned. It occurred to me that they were really a little young to be on their own, but too old to be adopted. I'd like to explore their little group more at some point. I'll check out the remix hiastusthon and see if I can find it. Thanks for the tip! :)
