I think that he would have been more in awe of her, at that point, with maybe the beginnings of love. Because he'd only known her for a week, but he had eight months in which she represented his only hope for survival. So then he'd have to struggle to deal with the more complex reality of her - hence, part two, the harder part for me to write. ;)
Very nicely done first part! Looks like you've got a really good grasp on Sammy, which is not very surprising! :)
Also an overall interesting way to start your story, because not too many writers have bothered exploring some of the details immediately following Sam's arrival on Galactica. You did a great job describing the awkwardness (but joy) of the transition.
Lovely view from inside Sam's head! I think thatis a pretty fair rendition of how it felt for him then - with the overwhelming presence of others, and the tenderness and passion for Kara... And I was amused by his dismissal of the small, sharp-looking Lee. Hee. Poor Apollo!
Excellent ending, too, with HotDog as the sacrificial lamb!
And this period of time, immediately after the rescue, must have seemed like such a rush of events to the Caprica survivors. In addition to the survivors being a little in awe of arriving at the fleet, I think the people in the fleet would probably be a little in awe of them as well, since some of them were sports stars before the attack.
The scene where Sam meets Lee is spot on. I think Sam probably did feel that there was a strange vibe going on there, and he definetly reacted to Kara's rude comment about "frakking Dualla".
Hot Dog shielding his eyes. Hee. I can't wait for part 2.

Ah, you know I hadn't thought of that before but it's absolutely true. I should see if I can work it in to the next part. The benefits of posting in parts!
Yeah, poor Sam had no idea what was going on, but even he was like "Um, aggressive much," at that. He's such a nice guy, really.
Well, heh, part two of Sam Anders fic got kind of swallowed up by Sam Anders meta, but hey - all for the cause? Back to the salt-mines tomorrow though.

Well he is very drunk, and from Sam's perspective, everybody's tiny. ;) But yes, poor Lee!
I'm so glad people liked what I did to poor Hotdog. It seemed fitting somehow. :D
Thanks so much for the feedback!
