They fight because he thinks she likes it, and she likes that he thinks so. She likes how he’s eager to please her, even though he never does.
She takes off her gloves to feel his skin, he takes off his so that his hits make darker marks. Bluer. Because she likes it that way, doesn’t she?

By morning, her left eye is swollen and she can’t move either of her hands. She decides against getting out of bed.
When he comes to check on her, she pretends to be asleep.
She’s off rotation today. He must have figured.
