So, I was looking up Sir Anthony's age on wiki. When he is introduced in season 1, Robert says:

"Anthony Strallan is at least my age and as dull as paint. I doubt she'd want to sit next to him at dinner, let alone marry him."

Therefore, Wiki says he's about 50.

In the comments of the wiki page, however, someone has written this:

Yes, Lord Grantham, dull as paint. Yet he managed to find his way to the front, soldiering with men half his age (like Osbourne in "Journey's End") and getting wounded in action. While Grantham spent the war at home, reading The Times in his uniform, crying to the new maid and complaining about the people in his library. Don't know how they'll handle it in the new season, but back in 1920 Grantham would have been shamed by the very presence of a man like Strallan, who'd faced the sternest test of honor for a man of his class.

Oooh, burn!!!! Thanks anon wiki contributor! I love that. Best laugh I had in ages. But how odd that Robert was constantly considered too old to go to the front, and Sir Anthony wasn't! More explanations needed in fanfic, girls!

downton abbey, thank you in advance, rambling is what i do, edith/sir anthony, lack of life
