Written for the Sunday Funday challenge to create a backstory for one of the downstairs characters.

I've only seen up to eppy 2 thus far of season 2, so this all could be a/u if we do find out any more details.

Thanks. The idea for Ethel just popped up before I could think of anything for our fav characters. But since starting this one, I have had inspiration, so I'll see if I can finish it during the week. :)

True. I was a bit exhausted and rl is being quite annoying at the moment. I think the whole of LJ is quiet too. My other fandom comms are not exactly buzzing either.

I have to say, I don't like Ethel but you managed to make me feel sorry for her.
She works to support her family and is not appreciated for what she does, all the while worrying about her sick mother. Poor thing.
Nor wonder she wasn't careful with Major Bryant.

Ethel's making it pretty obvious that she's after a husband to support her in the eppies I've seen. I guess that is the times, but it does seem awfully desperate compared to the other maids.

I can't wait to see Major Bryant. Ever since PL called him a cad. Hee.

I know that being married was ine of the most important things back then but I just wonder why she's so desperate. She's a pretty girl who seems to have a good head on her shoulders (well, sometimes) and therefore wouldn't need to worry about finding a suitor.

Oh, he's a good looking polite miscreant with a mustache. (Still Bill Adama sported a nicer mustache...) ;)

Oh poor dear Ethel! I think you've done a wonderful job with this backstory because this really explains a lot about her attitude and actions. I seriously hate Aunt Edna, what a horrible woman!

Ah, poor Aunt Edna. I thought she redeemed herself at the end of the fic. Hee.
