You spoil me! This was absolutely perfect and so very them. I don't blame Anna for not eating steak and kidney pie...eww. I love that he bought up a tray, it seems to be their "thing" Haha at Mrs Hughes sending him up with the tray.

“No, I should be going. Mrs Hughes assured me she’d be sending up Mr Carson with a rifle if I was any longer than fifteen minutes.”

This made me Laugh pretty hard.

The, he bent down and touched her nose with his. “Happy birthday, my love,” he murmured.

Of course I had to add Mrs Hughes! I had to stop myself from adding more! I feel them much more easily. Which might be why I used the dinner tray again. It's something familiar with Bates and Anna that I could use to ensure they stayed in character.

Carson and Hughes is now my other ship...i absolutely blame you for this. So I was delighted to get a bit of them in this too. I thought I might try hard to actually write something this week...probably won't happen but I have the best intentions. lol. One thing I know, it will be Anna/Bates and Carson/Hughes rolled into one.

he was a little saucy I see Anna as a virgin, but not Bates (obviously!), so I like that idea that he's one step ahead of her and needs to show her how things can be. *snort*

And I'm glad you quoted that line. After I wrote it I thought, ooooh that's sappy and romantic, which is good of course. LOL

It is voyeuristic and kinda hot in a weird kinda way. They never stop looking at each other!!!! For two people who are supposed to be discreet, they're sooo obvious!

Utterly adorable! Apparently trays of food are the most romantic thing now. :) It really was a very romantic gesture though.

LMAO! I can so imagine her, hands on her hips, accusing forefinger and stern look. But it was sweet of her. And..Carson with a rifle hunting Bates down? Totally screams for crack!fic. Maybe the staff could improvise a paintball match in a very anachronistic way.

I added the tray of food so I would keep Anna and Bates straight in my head. I didn't write them as naturally as I do Mrs Hughes and Mr Carson, so I wanted something in the fic to keep reminding me it was them. I'm glad no one thought adding the tray was too annoying and too much like the show. :)
