Gaius is off-world at a conference when their daughter is born: a red, squalling thing that Saoirse immediately adores. The baby has wisps of dark hair and blue, blue eyes and she’s so rosy and precious that Saoirse can’t stop kissing her.
She had told Gaius of her pregnancy so matter-of-factly that he had felt he had no choice but to go along. She didn’t mention marriage or even his impending fatherhood, and though he panicked regularly, he did not leave her.
“She’s perfect,” Saoirse murmurs when she opens her eyes to see Gaius standing next to her, staring hard at the new life they had brought forth.
“I can see that,” he replies, and the awestruck honesty in his voice makes her eyes well with tears. He’s clutching a bouquet of pink roses and a small stuffed bear as if in a daze. “Darling,” he says when he snaps out of it, “oh darling Saoirse,” and puts the flowers and bear down to wash up, looking over his shoulder all the while

Oh, it's so very cute. I love that she doesn't even talk about her pregnancy other than to inform him of it; that seems very Caprica, somehow. And then his reaction to the new baby (eee Celia!) and how awestruck and instantly in love he is!!!!
I'm glad you liked it! It was so fluffy, but it just happened that way, and I really liked it- the idea of Gaius softening at the idea of being a father (since Saoirse didn't give him a choice. Win!) And Celia was just the perfectest name for this baby.
I think that is the only way she would have a chance of making this work with Gaius at this point in his life. Hemming and hawing and asking what he thought, what should they do, etc., would just make him freak out. This way she was like, 'well, we're both onboard, you're going to have to bail out without my help if you want."

He’s clutching a bouquet of pink roses and a small stuffed bear as if in a daze. AAH THAT IMAGE. This made me smile so much.
Yeah, I had to stop there because my whole brain was crying from delight. I'm pretty sure Caprica would've put an end to the genocide with the baby in one of those little slings around her chest.
I have the talent, Caprica reminded herself. I belong here because I have the talentWhen she had arrived in Hollywood two months ago as Cathleen Hiram, fresh out of Cropseyville, New York, she had only dreamed of making it into the movies. She had been prepared to spend a few months working as a cigarette girl or an usherette, but instead was hired immediately by Kobol Studios, the most powerful studio in Los Angeles. The head of the studio, John Cavil, had seen her working as a cigarette girl in a night club on Sunset Drive on her third night and whisked her into his offices to sign a contract. “You’re a bit tall,” he had said critically, “but your face was made for the pictures

I'm so glad you liked it! I was worried about sounding at least somewhat accurate, so I'm glad it rang true to you. And Caprica is totally strong enough- and Sam is absolutely the sweetest. Thanks for this awesome prompt!
Oh my, this is wonderful and squee-inducing. <3 Like geekbynight said, you got the whole atmosphere and excitement of this world and I just love Caprica here -- totally knows what she's doing but still with a sense of wonder and ingenue-ness.
Caprica, she corrected mentally. The studio had changed her name to Caprica to make her seem more exotic, and it had taken days to get used to the name. She wasn’t going to let Mr Adams undo it. Aaah can I just flail my hands at it again being a name given to her by others but it's hers now and people better learn it dammit? *G*
